ABOUT ME

I'm 50-ish and lead a statewide environmental group in TX and worked for a pro-choice group for many years in LA. I was a high school AFSer to Kenya (1977), taught English (and Spanish) in Northeast Thailand for 2 years in the 1990's and have hosted high school exchange students from Ghana, Indonesia and Afghanistan.

PHILOSOPHY

We have more power than we are lead to believe but we have to get organized and be creative and smart about it. We can't assume that a mindset or strategy that works in one place will work in another, but I'm inspired by the activism around the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've informally couchsurfed in Laos, Kenya, Zambia, Denmark, Brazil, India etc. I really enjoy breaking out of the tourist bubble and get to know local folks wherever I am.

I don't see many major Hollywood movies...so I can be somewhat illiterate on popular culture...but I enjoy lots of good films, music and books

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I helped turn around the politics of abortion rights in California and have played a leading role in getting the electronics industry to recycle their obsolete products.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook Thai food especially Northeast Thai (Isaan) food. I'd like to learn about other people's points of view and share some travel stories and thoughts about how to live better on the planet.
