About Me

I study what makes planets evolve, and still can't believe I'm getting paid for it. When not doing cool science I'm likely traveling, on a hike, or skiing.

Before coming to Boulder I lived for several years in the arctic regions of Scandinavia, a gorgeous area of the world I will never forget. I'm still exploring Colorado, and exploration is always done best in good company.

PHILOSOPHY

"National boundaries are not evident when we view the Earth from space. Fanatical ethnic or religious or national chauvinisms are a little difficult to maintain when we see our planet as a fragile blue crescent fading to become an inconspicuous point of light against the bastion and citadel of the stars. Travel is broadening." - Carl Sagan

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing has allowed me to meet some amazing people that I never would have otherwise. People meeting, sharing culture and experiences openly, the concept appears to attract some of the best from every part of the world. I'm thrilled to be a part of it.

Surfers: I generally answer every personally written request. I know it's some work over ctrl+c, but wouldn't you like to know why the person knocking on your door wants to see you personally?

Interests

Traveling, skiing (touring, freeriding, carving... everything's better with variety), hiking, kayaking, surfing, photography, bugg/jive, the exploration of Earth and space through scientific inquiry, fika.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen some spectacular Aurorae, spoiled from living for years in the arctic.

Spent a summer working at Roque de los Muchachos observatory on the rim of a volcanic caldera in the Atlantic.

An M.Sc. internship at NASA Ames, close to San Francisco.

Followed a whale migration by airplane over the Pacific.

Enjoyed the Jordanian desert night in a Bedouin camp.

Surfing the waves of the arctic sea in winter, surrounded by the snow-covered beaches and mountains of northern Norway.

Explored some incredible places; lava tunnels in the Mojave desert; many steep peaks and fjords in northern Norway; La Palma's Caldera de Taburiente; California's Yosemite, Big Sur and Muir Woods national parks; the colorful Wadi Rum desert in Jordan.
