ABOUT ME
There are three boxes on this page and the other two I'm finished filling out. Why do I hate this box?
Since this is about sharing my couch, my friend would say my couch lives in a very clean and organized house. I don't think so, but it's nice to hear (and I wonder what their couches put up with). For an American, this house is pretty small but here in Seoul I guess it's a good size place.
Some people say I'm a walking wikipedia - they think I know a bit about everything about Seoul. I think it's because as an expat here, Koreans are always telling you something about the place and I like to fact check! I don't drink or smoke but I've done more club/bar time than most. I don't go out as much these days, but still think dancing is great fun - I just wonder why people get uptight when I dance outside of a club. haha
I'm interested in environmental things.
Books that have something to think about.
Healthy (-ish?) eating.
After you visit my place, PLEASE help me rewrite this! :D
Interests
I seem to have way more off-work-time then my friends and so I spend a lot of time traveling alone. On these days/trips I like to walk around new places and take in all the scenery. 10+ km per day is easy.
I might take too many photos, too, so I try to limit what ends up on FB. Maybe 20%?
Even after 10 years here in Seoul I still enjoy walking around this giant city.
The hectic life here seems monotonous, but there are plenty of cultural things to do if you look for them!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2010 I took a 9 day trip around NE Thailand by myself. I stayed in 6 cities. This whole trip was amazing and I only saw 2 or 3 people that I could easily identify as non-Thai - and that was a positive thing, too. Really a break from it all.
One day I planned to see a national park near Khong Jiam. I woke up at 3:30am, got a scooter from my hotel, and rode off to the park. I was hoping to catch the sunrise over the river between Lao and Thailand. The 6 hours I spent riding, hiking, walking around the park, mostly completely alone, was one of the best days of my life. I hopped, jumped, climbed waterfalls as I tried to take photos of myself using my camera's timer. I felt like a teenager again. Nature really has a way of refreshing the mind and body.
Later that day, since I had a few hours left on the bike rental, I had the scariest experience in Asia in my life. I rode to a border town and decided not to have lunch in Lao after a Thai immigration officer talked me out of it due to the high fees. I drove around Chong Mek looking for a place to eat and soon realized I was being followed. A really scary looking man also on a scooter seemed to be following me. After a few odd, paranoid turns on my part, he passed me a 3rd time. I was on the outskirts of the city by then. I raced off, top speed, going the wrong way on a one way road! If you meet me, you'll have to ask how the story ends! ha!
