About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in southern Louisiana, where I developed a serious love for crawfish, snowballs, parades, Mardi Gras season, and a whole lot of other things that only those who have visited my neck of the woods seem to know about. Nowadays I spend most of the year in New Jersey, where I attend Princeton University.

PHILOSOPHY

It's important to be confident without being boastful, to be strong without being stubborn, to be honest without being cruel, to be humble without being degrading to yourself, and to live your life as well as you can each and every day of your life. I'm not going to say that I actually succeed in accomplishing any of these things, but one can try.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm interested in local culture. I hope to get to know as many interesting people as I can, wherever I travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed my way across Europe after graduating high school, and it was an eye-opening experience. This site made sure I not only had a place to sleep, but gave me the opportunity to meet some incredible friends.

Interests

I love reading, writing, and baking. I'm a pretty big fan of history. I love dogs, too--they're the sweetest. I have a husky and a black lab of my own, back home.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've read so many books and watched so many movies, it's tough to pick just a few favorites. When it comes to books, I suppose I've always loved cute adventures; I definitely went through my Harry Potter and Hunger Games phases, and I still love reading those two series. As of right now, I believe my favorite author is Juliet Marillier, an Australian author who writes fiction that incorporates Irish mythology. Any female should definitely read her book, Daughter of the Forest; I fell in love immediately and devoured that thing in a day. Of course I enjoy other types of books as well--Joseph Heller's Catch-22 was pretty entertaining, and any Sherlock Holmes story is going to be incredible. My all-time favorite tv show is Friends, which I watched as I grew up. As far as movies go, I enjoy comedies mostly, but I'm also open to psychological thrillers, mysteries, and action films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen a done a lot of things, but most of all, I've befriended fellow travelers.

Teach, Learn, Share

Anyone can stay in a hotel, and visit all of the incredibly tourist-y sites, and take their photos in front of big monuments without bothering to actually learn about the places they've spent so much of their money and time visiting. Couchsurfing gives everyone a chance to dig a little deeper into each country's culture, and it no doubt provides absolutely enriching experiences that are more valuable than any experiences bought at fine hotels. And for the hosts, getting to know so many people from so many different places is absolutely incredible. I look forward to participating.
