ABOUT ME
Facts and figures:
I am 24, which I consider middle aged (the subjective middle of your life is around 20, did you know that?!)
I am kind of small, about the height of an average 13 year old, I guess.
I am a student of English mostly (Focus on Old English and more recently also Old Norse), with a bit of Spanish on the side.
I loooove my hometown way too much, but that might have to do with it containing all my best friends, family,...arrgh who am I kidding here, it's just a really picturesque place and I like the feeling of being home.
Thankfully said feeling gets heightend by the experience of being away every once in a while, therefore, as well as for many other reasons, I travel as much as I can justify considering my bank account.
Also, I don't smoke (never have, never will) but I enjoy the atmosphere of smoke breaks, talking to to people casually...
On top of that, I don't like alcohol, which renders me virtually socially disabled in a region where going out for a beer is part of everyday culture. Let me tell you, it's not easy being a non-drinking student, so please be kind ;)
The best thing to me, socially speaking, is actually that: speaking. To people other than myself. I like long conversations, deep, absurd or (preferably) both. You never know when a conversation like that is going to hit you, it can't be planned or arranged for, just happens - with the most unlikely of people or your oldest friend. I'm sort of constantly craving that giddy feeling you get afterwards that you just got to know a part of someone you never expected to see. Memorable and sort of magical.
That's also the primary reason I don't particularly like noisy, crowded bars. It depresses me to be surrounded by people full of speaking potential without acutally being able to get a conversation going (I hate having to yell, especially into peoples ears).
So, that's about it...for now.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed very successfully in Toronto, Montreal and London.
Also, my flatmates hosted someone for the first time last summer - unfortunately, I missed her :(
Interests
Interests? - Well, I am very fond of them. I like them on other people and also managed to gather a a good number of them myself. I try to carry 'em with me wherever I can, so they get to see some of the world before they die (I hope they won't do that any time soon...), maybe even find others of their kind to procreate and make cute little interesting babies...

Music, Movies, and Books
Ahhww that's always my favourite part. So, just to name a few (I'm trying to keep the information up to date ;) but most of it is timeless anyways ):
Movies/TV: Meryl Streep never fails to amaze me ("The Bridges of Madison County" makes me cry e.v.e.r.y. time) -> love movies that cause emotional turmoil #*# feels general affection towards Tim Burton, especially because he casts his lovely wife in pretty much every movie he directs #*# all time favourites include "Life is Beautiful" by Roberto Benigni and "The Hours" (Meryl again), more recently I really liked "500 Days of Summer" and also "The Secret of Kells" (stunning visuals!) #*# latest TV obsession: GLEE (don't even get me started on how much I love that show...)
Oh yeah and I also listen to music :) since I'm travelling at the moment I only have a limited selection to chose from right now, so, I'm gonna name a few items from my mp3 player: Hjaltalín and Snorri Helgason (discovered them right before Christmas, got them to draw little sketches of themselves on the CD case instead of just signing, probably weirded them out a bit...) #*# Mumford ans Sons (a yet more recent addition to my collection #*# handpicked playlists I got from friends (I think it's a beautiful thing to do, putting together playlist for each other, especially if you don't know one another really well yet, pick something that either represents your tastes or that you think the other person would enjoy...ohh I should do that more often...)
On to books: I read. I really do, I promise. It's my job, I'm a student, I'm getting paid for it. But reading anything study related (even though I love my subjects) is not the same as reading just because you want to. The last thing I read under the latter category was "Íslandsklukkan" by Halldór Laxness and after finishing that I got started on "The Name of the Rose" but stupidly left it at home, so it is on pause for a month. Duh!
