ABOUT ME

I have thankfully come to the end of what seemed at times to be everlasting studentdom. I blagged my way into being allowed to finish up my PhD while living in India and have stayed on ever since. I've been in India for about five years now, give or take, with a few breaks. I'm British-born but next to never in Britain nowadays. A child of the world, maybe... but that sounds pretentious.

I intend to be as hospitable as the world has been to me over the years. Which is very. I have made a number of great friends through CS in different parts of the world - they are always welcome wherever I am.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met several people via Orkut prior to discovering this site. Many of them met me during my great England to India overland escapade in 2005. One even took me in to stay with his family and showed me pretty much everything worth seeing in Uzbekistan. Now the Orkut days are dead and buried, and since then I've regularly used CS to link up with people in new places, preferably those who know and love the places they live in and are eager to share (and also explain!) them.

兴趣

Travelling (well, duh!), hiking, exploring, 'getting away from it all' (and getting into the thick of things too), photography, scuba diving, bowling, pool, golf, dance (STILL planning to take up salsa... it's been a long-standing intention, and it's about time), avant-garde movies, hours talking over coffee (or a pint of beer, generally nursed till it's nearly warm)... and more.

Icebergs near Antarctica... I never knew that they are actually trippy shades of blue close up! Oh, and the cute penguins that live nearby.
