About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet a group of super intelligent scientists and use their expertise to colonize another planet, while writing a travel log along the way.

ABOUT ME

I'm eager to get out and travel. I'm sure most of the people here say the same, and so I hope sharing that desire is enough to get my foot in the door. I'm a fiction writer and I hope to be accepted to one of the many graduate creative writing programs here in America after I graduate from the University of Houston with my bachelors in English literature and creative writing. My desire is to write great stories, hopefully to participate in non-fiction writing and screenplay writing. I've never been published, but I've been rejected almost thirty times. I'm told I have talent, despite the fact that sometimes it seems like beating my head against a wall. But, I love writing and I will continue to do it.

Alternatively, I'm a painter, cyclist, and athlete. I've been training hard lately to be able to bike 700KM around Europe this summer, and the trip is actually coming together. I center my thoughts around this trip and the travel log I hope to write along the way.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is, for me, about an "oceanic feeling." That feeling you get of complete tranquility, of the sublime. This feeling comes from understanding anything, from reading, from exercising, from any skill or talent or technical skill, any physical activity or love or stimulating conversation --those moments when something clicks and it seems easy to reach out across space and feel the universe. I don't care about material things. These moments are the most valuable things I could ever want.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I've donated, if that's any help. I will offer my couch to anyone that needs to use it. I doubt anyone wants to come to Houston, but I really need to surf around in Europe and possibly stateside to get the affordable kind of travel under my belt.

I'll share stories, I'll help you clean your house. I'll move furniture, boxes, or groom your animals. I'm also a very good horseback rider and I can take pretty good care of horses... so if anyone needs help with that I'd be obliged to trim a hoof or two.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never done this before, but I hope that changes soon.

Interests

Writing, people, biking, ultimate frisbee, horseback riding, movies, television, animated television, books, pool, sports in general, travel, and education. Really though, I'm interested in everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies I like are Moon, Hurt Locker, Hook, and Anchorman. Music I like is Caribou, Tobacco, the classics, the Beatles, etc. Books I like are Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, Civilwarland in Bad Decline by George saunders, and etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've skydived solo a couple of times. It's incredible. I hate to say this is all I've got, but it really changed my perspective on life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life isn't so fast and scary. If you slow down a little, and look your problems in the face, you'll find that a complex problem gets simpler.
