CURRENT MISSION

I am currently working on a radio documentary series called Upstream: Economics for Transition. It's about lots of things, including Couchsurfing! Our aim is to tell the stories of the people and places that are using economics to transition to a better world.

ABOUT ME

I spend most of my immersed in the world of music and all things audio. I have many different audio projects going on all the time: my own, with others, and as an engineer/producer for artists all over the world, including one I met here on Couchsurfing. When I don't have a pair of headphones on, you can find me hiking and camping around the Bay Area, writing polemical essays on the growth-industrial society, reading, researching, studying, drinking coffee, and sometimes teaching.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people, host people, and contribute to the *real* sharing economy. I've made friends through Couchsurfing who I am still in contact with and see all over the world, from the UK to Australia.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Documentaries and animation like that from Hayao Miyazaki.
Music: Everything, but especially quiet folk and minimalist house.
Books: So, so many. Right now I'm reading A Convenient Truth (Richard Wilkinson & Kate Pickett), The Great Transformation (Karl Polyani), Capital (Karl Marx), The Trouble with Testosterone (Robert Sapolsky), & 1491: The Americas before Columbus (Charles C. Mann)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Week long boat trip through the Cyclades Islands in the Aegean.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to teach guitar and drums. I'm also an audio engineering expert, and when I am not traveling myself you always have a couch to stay on in California.
