About Me

HEY! SO this is kinda outdated! I'm now 25, and living in an Arthouse with a fellow artist. His name is Moogle, and we're only there for the summer (2016), so we're keen to make most of it, meeting people, sharing, learning and most importantly BEING CREATIVE. He is a bad ass musician and I am a filmmaker.

ABOUT ME

My name is Rob, I'm a 21 year fella from Ireland. Nothing in the world makes me feel better than laughing and laughing and laughing. I'm a funny guy and I love doing crazy things. I've been lucky enough to see a lot of America on a Jack Kerouac style trip from New York to San Francisco. I've also surfed in Morocco, camped at a week long music festival in Spain and cycled 200 miles to see a Paul Simon gig in Cork. I love music, anything from Tupac to Neil Young to Mumford and Sons to Regina. I love anything that gets my blood pumping; hiking, climbing, surfing, cliff-jumping. I love making connections with people, and I'm as open minded as they come. I love life and this summer in Massachusetts was the start of my great adventure. Since then I have spent two months traveling through Europe on my own, twelve countries in eight weeks and couch surfing every night! It was a great trip!

PHILOSOPHY

Just be.

Follow your greatest excitement.

your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

The world is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, around and around, it has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly colored, and it's very loud, and it's fun for a while. Many people have been on the ride a long time, and they begin to wonder, "Hey, is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, "Hey, don't worry; don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride." And we … kill those people. "Shut him up! I've got a lot invested in this ride, shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry, look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real." It's just a ride. But we always kill the good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok … But it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've couch surfed in Ireland, mainland Europe and America, and once I secure myself with a permanent place of abode I will be more than happy to return the favour.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Never a bad one. I've ended up drunken jamming on a beach in San Fran, swimming in a lake in Oklahoma, playing poker with a guy named Kenny in Hollywood, dancing at a gypsy gig in Slovakia and hiking in Vienna! It's all been beautiful!
