About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To give back to the couchsurfing community that so graciously hosted me throughout my 3 month solo trip in Europe

ABOUT ME

I think my life really started in college. The friendships and experiences during those four years have made me who I am today. I'm a pretty easy going guy and always ready for new challenges.

I love to travel and maintain an active lifestyle. Most recently I took up kiteboarding and have fallen in love with the sport. Lucky for me kiteboarding will take me many places in the world and I'm looking forward to the trips and adventures ahead.

PHILOSOPHY

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just signed up after some friends recommended the site. My best friend (www.couchsurfing.com/squidsoup) has been a member for awhile. I used couchsurfing while on a solo 3 month europe trip in 2010. My trip wouldn't have been the same had I stayed in hostels or hotels instead of with the amazing hosts I had. I'm looking forward to hosting people at my apartment now that I've moved to downtown Seattle

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CS was a great resource during my 3 month solo trek through Europe in the summer of 2010. I had amazing experiences couchsurfing all over Europe and probably the most memorable was down in Africa. I couldn't believe the hospitality and willingness to take time out of each and every day to show me around town giving me a true look into the Moroccan culture and lifestyle.

I've always enjoyed hosting people, friends or otherwise. I usually have friends crashing my couch on the weekends after a night on the town. Couchsurfing just extends my friend network ;)

Interests

Where to start. I enjoy music and art. I am also into pretty much anything involving water: wakeboarding, wakesurfing, boating, kayaking, sailing, and kite boarding.

In the summer I enjoy mountain biking and hiking. I have done some backpacking and lots of camping. I have a sportbike (Kawasaki Ninja 636) and I love riding it to the beach on a sunny day. Tennis, golf, frisbee, volleyball...get the picture?

But I'm also a bit of a computer nerd and love video games... although I'm now trying to spend my time doing more productive things than gaming =)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my most fond memories would have to be while backpacking through western Italy with my best friend. We met two random groups of travelers near Cinqua Terra and invited them to camp with us at the peak just north of the northernmost city. After a grueling hike we reached a point some 1000+ feet above the water and camped in the remains of an old monastery. We drank boxed wine by the campfire as we became acquainted with our new friends. Falling asleep under the open stars and rising to the most beautiful sunrise was something I'll never forget.
