Overview
About Me
I'm a chocolatier in Minnesota, and was a journalist before I changed careers. I live on four acres with my female partner, 3 cats, a dog, and honeybees. In the summer, we have three camping sites that we rent out, as well as equipment. But we also have a spare indoor bedroom and private bathroom available. I love being outdoors, like learning, and have a desire to learn more about cacao and chocolate-making techniques.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Hotels provide one kind of experience, but not really a cultural one. To experience a place culturally, I believe we must connect with locals who can share their love for their home. I don't always come by this easily. By nature, I'm a bit of an introvert. But I'm often touched by the generosity of hosts, and I want to also provide this to travelers.
Interests
Chocolate, cacao, pastry, artisan food, farming, birding, hiking, wildlife, active sports, music. I am eager to learn how to do needle felting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few years back, I stayed at the Ice Hotel in Canada. While this was very fun, the highlight of the trip was riding a toboggan in Quebec. An Indian woman asked if we would ride down with her small children. It was delightful and hilarious to share the experience with strangers-- who immediately became friends.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am pleasant and optimistic, quiet and respectful, interested in hearing what you have to say, and willing to try many things.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, New Zealand, Saint Lucia
