About Me

CURRENT MISSION

*CLOSING UP FOR HOSTS FOR NOW, due to the beginning of the school year *

Finding a more permanent job or a job abroad! UK would be ideal.

ABOUT ME

To make it short I'm a graduate in history with a taste for rock'n'roll, beer, dancing and politics. I enjoy having heated debates (politics, music, art or else...), dancing like crazy even when there's no one else there. I also like anything historical. My childhood fantasy is time travelling. I could say that music, friends, getting dressed and hit the gigs OR chocolate, isolation and cosyness alternatively rule my life. More of the latter lately to be honest. Why yes, I think I'm actually an introvert. So I also enjoy reading, cooking, sleeping late, and of course... travelling. Whenever I can, but I'm often busy during the school year.

NB : I like retro styles but I'm not always very ladylike. I can drink my beer out of the can just fine, thanks.

I also have a tendency for irony and sarcasm... my best friends call me Daria. Consider yourself warned.

PHILOSOPHY

I think there's no real meaning to life, and that's terrifying to some people, but really, to me the point is to enjoy yourself, feel comfortable with who you become, and treat others with basic respect.
I care about the past, as it answers for a great deal of our present. Though one should always acknowledge the issues of one's time.

I hate nothing more than right-wing extremism (I studied it at uni and enjoyed it thoroughly), I'm concerned with social issues and I despise that some people feel superior to others, so basically I'm a leftie. I'm interested in alternative and critical theories. I'm also a bit of a hippie. Ask me more in person.

I respect the fact that religion helps some people through life, but I feel like walking my way without one. I had a very interesting discussion with a bus driver, and I came to the conclusion that it's out of our reach to say if there's a god up there, clearly it's the big man's business to even know that. Let alone judging others for their beliefs or morals.

I don't believe in a god, I only believe in friendship, open-mindedness and FUN. Be it Passion, Be it Music, Be it Love, Be it whatever you like.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted quite a few people during my (long) student years, it has dwindled down for now if I'm being honest. Hoping to get back into it.

When I can't host, I'm available for advice.
Not much of a community person though.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couchsurfing is new friends delivered to your door. Most experiences are usually beyond positive.

I can say with confidence I've hoste dmore than I've been hosted, but both have been overwhelmingly positive.

Interests

History, feminism, politics, retro/vintage styles, music and gigs mainly. Dancing, almost any kind ! Sleeping late, very important after a night out.

Reading. I do most of my reading online (feminism, politics), and participate give advice in a couple of online communities. I absorb knowledge then give out advice. It's mostly what teachers do, learn and teach.

Interested in environnmental issues, leading a healthier lifestyle, veganism, consumerism (criticism and "improvement").

Travelling. I miss it, man, always !
Education and giving advice, something I do a lot in my virtual life. I spend too much time in front of the computer. Just like now!

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: Loads... Classic Rock'n'roll, Punk rock oldies, Rockabilly & Psyhobilly, Garage from the sixties to now, Stoner Rock, Indy and Alternative Rock. My partner is into original reggae, I think that's cool too. I had a blast dancing at a few Northern Soul all-nighters !

Some of my absolute favourite artists include : The Stooges, The Clash, QOTSA, Nirvana, RHCP, Joan Jett, Cock Sparrer,... And so many more. i have a thing for strong female vocalists.

Littereature : I can bore you with french classics, I teach 'em. History books are usually more interesting to me.

Tarantino, Tim Burton, John Waters, ... not a big film buff. Movies regarding music , sex and rock'n'roll or specific eras and subcultures. Anything including unconvntional beautiful people of either gender.

Oh and I'm a total series addict. Too many of them. Just ask. Same applies re: sexy people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think my 3 month stay in England as a fresh 18 y.o. I got the chance to meet folks from all around the world, and got the travel bug. I popped out on my own in London on a freezing December evenning and was showered with free drinks and even offered a couch to spend the end of the night on...

Drunken youth stories and bad kids' memories.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm good with languages... I could teach one to have good taste in music, certainly... I could teach anyone to climb up and down the steepy hills of my town, for sure !

I got technique (and practise) on how to stay alive in a pogo.

I'm trying to get better at cooking, experimenting... but I'm also lazy. I'm open to new recipes, especially veggie & healthy ones.

OH and I've been told I'm a terrific dancer, I could teach you some moves !
