CURRENT MISSION

After spending more than 30 years rebuilding an old homestead in a remote area, we have retired to town. My wonderful wife and I are looking for a great adventure. I'm looking for that adventure to be someplace warm.

ABOUT ME

Shirley: Retired. Have spent a fair few years gathering skills to maintain a home and family, can make about anything from the materials at hand. Interested in gardening and all kinds of plants, loving the adventure that we are currently on watching to see where it leads us.

PHILOSOPHY

Right now for both of us it would have to be - look around the next corner and be open to what is there.
OH right and for Crash - washing dishes on a daily basis is a centering activity.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We joined couch surfing at the encouragement of our sons but having traveled a bit and spent some time with various hosts we are so glad to have the couch surf opportunity open to us as it is the people who make a place, otherwise we are just skimming over the land with no access to the heart.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All our experience has been in Australia. We are so happy to find generous people who open their homes to us, share their stories, and answer the questions we have gathered up as we travel from place to place.

Interests

Shirley: Crafts and Sewing currently learning to weave. Gardening - especially vegetables. Agriculture, fiber arts, hiking, would love to learn to kayak or canoe. Enjoy being exposed to new music and new ideas. Crash: Livestock, traveling, forestry, solving problems, would love to learn about sailing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Crash - reads everything and in Australia his focus is Australiana especially history and poetry. Shirley - I am currently reading all for pleasure (a genre we call T.V. books) but old favorites include To Kill a Mockingbird, The Scarlett Letter, Barbara Kingsolver, hmm. Lived without electricity so completely out of touch with music and movies.

Raised 2 fine adventurous young men who are better than me.

Teach, Learn, Share

Crash: Can build a bunch of stuff with logs.
Break and train horses or mules to ride,pack, and/or drive. Logged, packed, hayed with horses, mules.
Shirley: bake bread, grow food, basic knitting and sewing, how to live on the road with our battered trangia.
