ABOUT ME

I have become enthused about travel in the last few years and am enjoying planning trips. I have cycled in Cuba, walked a Camino in Spain and enjoyed theatre in London. So much more out there. I live in a small town and enjoy that. I like being involved and volunteer in different ways because I believe in being involved. I think it is the people who are involved who make the changes we all benefit from.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am just joining and will have to find out how I participate. I would like to stay with and meet people when I travel and look forward to meeting travellers who come to my town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been couchsurfing for many years with family and friends. Last year I couchsurfed for two weeks with a friend in Vancouver when I volunteered at a theatre festival. This summer my nephew and his wife will be staying with me as their travels go through my home town.

Interests

I like to walk and read and hike, and ski occasionally. I enjoy theatre. I act in small town productions, have been (and will be again) a volunteer at Vancouver's fringe festival and have enjoyed attending theatre where I can. I volunteer in different capacities to contribute in different ways and to meet people. I must read and almost always have a book with me. I like music but it isn't a passion. I enjoy meeting people and conversation over a glass of wine but tend to avoid VERY loud and crowded social situations.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies I like but not so passionate about. Music much the same but I enjoy live music much more than recordings. I love to read. Not so much fiction as I used to but history and some science. I really like live theatre. I like the experience to be live.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to mountain climb and at one time taught it. Had some amazing experiences there. In 2009 I did a portion of the Camino de Santiago in Spain and found that something that I will always remember.

Teach, Learn, Share

My couchsurfing has been with family and friends. I know them so it flowed easily. I look forward to meeting new people from different cultures and finding my way with them. I think we all need to remember that "normal" is a local and temporary situation.
