About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoying live and wandering around. But not all, who wander are lost.

ABOUT ME

Howdy! I am Markus from Germany. Due to my mother, I am half american. I have been to the states plenty of times, mainly to visit relatives though. One day I always wanted to travel the states independently and now is the time!
My whole life I lived in Germany... went to school, got my highschool degree and did 9 months of civil service, assisting a maintainance man in an orphanage.
Before starting anything too serious in life, I wanted to see the world and do some traveling. So I went to Australia and south east Asia for a year to clear my mind. That when I found out I wanna work with wood. Now I'm a German carpenter traveling the world for a couple of years. I'm gonna build or refurbish a few houses that I will live in later in live.

I never heard of couchsurfing before I started to travel, but I will definitely offer a couch for other travelers too especially when I built my first house. I think it's a good Idea and worked out fine so far.

PHILOSOPHY

Do something good and something good will come back to you at some point. Everybody wins. I want to live my life to the max and do as many different things as possible. I have thrust in my self. Getting help from others and helping others is great. But every achievement in life starts with my own dreams and hopes and i'll have to work hard for it. Motivation is a bitch some times ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Traveling mainly. Wanna build a house in the next couple if years where there will be plenty of room for couchsurfers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have tried it out once in Adelaide, couple of years ago.
It felt very weird, but great to be inside a 'home' again after so many months of sleeping in a tent, or in noisy hostels.
It worked out great and I was keen on getting some more experience as well. Now, in the states I'm mainly sleeping in our car. So every once and a while I send requests and it feels good to get to know these welcoming people.

Interests

Juggling with balls, clubs or fire, I do some performances too, Surfing, Wood, Design, Computers, Internet, Basketball, Skating, anything Extreme, Running, Party, Going out, Music, Traveling, Meeting new people, (I wish I could play an instrument, learning Harmonica and hand drums at the moment).

Music, Movies, and Books

The Boondock Saints, Butterfly effect, Man on Fire, the Game ... oh my god I should stop, cause there are way too many good things out there.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Very hard to pick one out if it's for scenery I'd take my 5 days hike on Rees dart track in new Zealand, where at one point I reached the top of a mountain and felt like the king of the world.
If it's for partying and awesome people I'd take tubing in Laos vang vieng!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some juggling. I would like to learn hand drums. Or else about interesting facts of our social system and economy..
