About Me

READ FIRST:
Please note my place is 2 HOURS AWAY FROM HUALIEN CITY by train, and Hualien City is 30 minutes away from Taroko by car. If you are going to Taroko, please kindly find a host near Hualien City. And please read my profile carefully before texting me, just as I would read yours carefully as well, even each of your pictures. Host request without confirmation is not welcome since I would sometimes be late and I am not checking CoushSurfing every minute to cause it to expire easily.
Dear friend, please understand that my job does not allow me to check and reply messages anytime, and please do not expect me to do that. It is inconvenient for me to tell you my address because I live with my family and they can't speak English. If you get to my place before me, you will shock them. Therefore, a meeting point is always a better idea for us to meet. But think about it: I might be late for home due to an unexpected meeting, my student's parent who really needs to talk to me, or any of my students who needs my help. So if you are traveling without a phone and cannot keep in touch with me anytime, how can you let me know your arrival time, or how can I tell you to wait for me longer since I am stuck? I am really afraid I don't know how to meet you up.
Last but not least, I check your CouchSurfing schedule only. Please do not expect me to remember when you have told me you are coming in our messages. Even if you come one day earlier, I would be confused no matter how much we have talked because I might forget it after the busy work at school.
Really sorry for my rude words, but I do have bad experiences. You will never know how bad I would feel if I don't find you. And please kindly DO NOT argue with me what you have told me. I'll NEVER confirm your stay unless I am sure we have no problem getting to meet. WORDS CAUSE MISUNDERSTANDING ESPECIALLY AS WE DON'T KNOW EACH OTHER WELL. Thank you very much for your understanding!
*Please do not send me a friend request if we are not really friends or haven't met in person.

ABOUT ME

Travel is everything to me. I will die if I don't travel. Cultures, histories, traditional customs, people, and food are the main points. But of course, there are still many other things in my life, such as music, movies, and romance. Welcome to see my albums at www.flickr.com/photos/rodinwu or my blog at http://rodinwu.blogspot.tw/

PHILOSOPHY

Well, my personal philosophy changes from time to time. But currently I just think people are the most difficult to control. I can't make others' minds, but I can only make mine. Life is short, which should be wasted on the beautiful. But I am not into "sick or unhealthy fun". If you agree, I practice Love and Gratitude. Leave your ego, or everybody will leave you :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

If you are coming around, I will be very happy to host or meet up. However, I will not be able to spend time with you during my work.

Music, Movies, and Books

Any films but Sci-fiction or thrillers. Any music but heavy metal. I'm a big Mariah Carey fan. Please be sure you can take that because you will hear I play her music a lot LOL!
Of course, I have other type. Would love to share and talk about tho.
I love Paulo Coelho. And I read poems. I never miss Ang Lee's movies since he is my super idol. I love to connect music, movies, and books to life and find the philosophy from them. It's hard to express in a simple word. Come and let's talk about it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Bath in the Ganga River
Please visit http://youtu.be/Rg4slstcmv0 (longer video) or http://youtu.be/EPUkXL2kWy0 (shorter video)
2. I slept three nights on the street in NYC (does it count?)
Well I didn't tend to do so but it was a peak traveling time, too many tourists made none of hosts be able to accommodate me. And all the economical hostels or guesthouses were fully booked. It just wasn't worth staying in a high-end hotel for hundreds of dollars per night to me. But I did experience what the homeless' lives would be like in NYC and learn how to survive like them :)
