Hello and welcome! My name is Roger, I am 25 years old, and I am a very outgoing individual that loves the outdoors, experiencing new places, and meeting people!

On June 6th 2018 I made a decision to follow my dreams and break away from societal norms. I quit my job, sold my belongings, and bought a one way ticket to London. This is my starting point and I am going to spend the next years of my life traveling the world to experience new places, people, and cultures.

I spent many years in college attempting to follow what society had told me and I never found an interest in the work that I was doing. I finished my associates degree, my linguistics research, and began working a full time job. After working for a few years at a few different jobs I was feeling unfulfilled and not happy with the way my life had turned out. So I decided to make a drastic change and dive into the unknown.

In a world consumed by technology, social media, instant gratification, and consumerism, I wanted to take a step back. Do something off the beaten path and carve my own road. There is so much the world has to offer and all you need to do is look up, take a moment to breath and take in the sights and the sounds around you.

I am currently backpacking across Europe, camping, hitchhiking, staying in hostels, staying with local people, working with local people, and listening to their stories. I want to experience the world from a local viewpoint and I want to tell the stories of the people I meet, the places I go, the cultures and the beauty the world has to offer. I am looking to walk a week in my hosts shoes and learn as much as I can from them.

I want to meet new people from all walks of life, talk to them, learn from them, experience the world from their point of view, and be able to understand a new perspective on the world by walking a week in their shoes. Experiences are the memories that stick throughout your life and they will be the stories you cherish. I do not know the people I will meet through Couchsurfing, the experiences we will share, the things we will do, but I will be able to tell you about all of it after.

I am a very outgoing, hyperactive, adventurous individual that is willing to do anything you put in front of me. My hope is to find hosts that share this personality and are driven to share their culture, their life, their interests, and their story with me. I want to learn from my hosts as much as possible and live through their perspective.

Music: I appreciate all genres of music. My favorites are rock, metal, electronic, and classical piano. Concerts are one of my favorite activities because the euphoric feeling you get from the crowd is something unlike anything other. Hearing music sung by thousands of people with such power and unison is hard to describe.

Movies: I like action thrillers, psychological thrillers, fantasy, and anything regarding Marvel. If I had to choose, my favorite movies of all time are the Lord of the Rings trilogy. My favorite stand alone movie is Inception.

Books: Lord the Rings trilogy, Harry Potter Series, Game of Thrones, and the writings of Steven Pinker regarding the mind.

What I can share with my hosts is my company and my desire to learn from them as much as I can while I am there. My goal is to "walk a mile in my hosts shoes" and experience life as they do on a normal day. Along with this I am looking to develop a friendship with each host that will last past the time that we are together and extend to future times together again.

I am very open minded and willing to helping my hosts with projects around their house, cooking meals with them and for them, and or providing any assistance that they may ask of. Last but not least I am going to be sharing my stories of travelling with my host and sharing my experiences with them.
