About Me

Heya stranger, how are you? I'm Roger.

Looking for a place to stay? I'd like to invite you to read my profile and message me and I just might happen to have a bed for you.

The synopsis: I happen to broadcast on a wide variety of wavelengths, so I'm sure you'll have a nice time staying here. At least the reviews suggest that. I like to get to know my couchsurfers a bit; where you from, what you do and what makes the fire in your eyes lit up. So feel free to stay a night or two or longer. I usually cook the first meal and, trying to be modest here, it will be very tasty.

If you have the time, I'd like to invite you to read the 'My Home' section. I have some simple house rules, meant mostly for guys. Not that guys are sloppier than girls, but we men have some fine masculine capabilities that's great in the wild, but not so great in my bathroom. The gist of it is that if you keep it clean, we go along well. The home section is a short read:

Looking forward to meet you!

Also, the gentleman with that grin in the profile picture, that's me. I have a lot more hair now, so if a wildebeest opens the door, that too is me..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I host you guys because it's fun and enjoyable. Especially when I see someone cooking some good food for me. Yes, I totally enjoy being spoiled by my guests. But, hosting people for me is also a way to give back. I received countless acts of kindness during my travels. The sheer generosity has been overwhelming. Allow me to return the favour:

Interests

I love the sea and everything about it. If you have a bike or if I still have a car, we should hang out there.

Music, Movies, and Books

Abba, The Titanic and 50 shades of Grey.

I'm being sarcastic here. Well, Abba are the Beatles of the seventies, so there's that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rescued a young girl and her cat from drowning. True story.

Teach, Learn, Share

Besides a place to sleep, sharing food is another way for me to return the favours and flavours I was given on my own travels. I'm a modest chef, but if you happen to like to cook too, by all means, spoil me. I lift, climb and surf and always in need of tasty nutrition. But the first dinner is on me. I'm an omnivore, so warn me if you aren't. And here's a sneak preview of our famous Dutch cuisine:

The polished man on the left is eating a Dutch delicacy of gibbed raw hearing soaked in a preserving liquid. If that sounds disgusting, you're completely right. But the taste...awh, the taste... The gentlemans esteemed friend on the right is eating a heavenly 'broodje ei'. That is kind of a soft sandwich with a sliced boiled egg on it and sprayed with pepper and salt. Don't get me started about the mayonnaise that's slushed on it. Ah well, Dutch cuisine.

There have been some brave couchsurfers before you who tried one of the above recipes. Or even both. I applaud the effort.

First dinner while be something more conservative. So, sadly, no boiled goat eyes or fried walrus testicles.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Take it while it's still hot!
