关于我

Hi my name is Rohan,

I am travelling the world as a Youtube vlogger and Vipassana meditator. I am inspired by travel, meditation, Bitcoin and the open source decentralised trend currently taking place globally. I believe I can inspire you in these areas too :)

In the interests of not ending up with mismatched expectations, I have two requests to get out in the open:

- I meditate 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening. In the morning I can do this before you wake up, but in the evening I would appreciate 1 hour of alone time to meditate.
- During the day I would like to walk around the city for a couple hours in order to explore and shoot a few vlogs.

Other than that I am free to hang out and help out. My goal is really just to add value to your life, practice just being myself and to go along with the flow.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Here is a short story I wrote about the Russian rooftopping scene for a travel competition (did not win):

It all started with silence, fear, and the thought ‘don’t look down’. It was about 2am and I was perched halfway up an old cast iron ladder on the side of a five story building when everything got a little bit overwhelming and I decided to pause. I clung to the ladder as tight as I could and tried to ride out the wave of adrenaline that was forming and making it impossible to move with the level of dexterity needed to make it to the top alive. I was also scared that someone might see me, after all it was the middle of summer and the streets of St Petersburg were soaking in the famous twilight known as a ‘White Night’.

Suddenly the silence was broken by my friend of a few hours, Dima, yelling ‘come on, even little girls have climbed this!’ from the ground. I had to decide whether to continue or give up. I closed my eyes and felt a strong ‘yes’ from within, so I moved one hand up to the next rung, trusting that the remaining three points of contact were secure. I ascended another few meters when I felt the ladder jolt. Sergey, another friend, had started climbing underneath me. The weight on the ladder had now doubled and I knew there was no turning back so I cleared my mind and sped up.

Eventually I made it to the top and after negotiating the small gap between the ladder and the roof, I laid down on my stomach to mentally recover and waited for Sergey. He soon made it to the top and together we started exploring the roof. It was a sloping patchwork of corrugated tin panels, antennae and chimneys with an ordered chaos like the mind of a troubled Russian genius. I walked up to the highest point and a 360 degree view of St Petersburg opened up. In front was the river and the Palace Bridge, to the right was the Hermitage Museum and behind was St Isaac’s Cathedral. It was truly spectacular and I couldn’t imagine any other city in the world being more beautiful.

Sergey caught up to me and although we couldn’t speak each other’s language, we both agreed to just sit down and take everything in. Soft rain started falling so we knew we would have to climb back down before the ladder got too slippery. The Palace Bridge started lowering and we had the best view in the whole city of it. It had an amazing perspective, like a big moon. I felt vindicated, I was now a part of the rooftopping scene in Russia for real. I was ready for the skyscrapers that lay ahead in Moscow.
