🎯 CURRENT MISSION

I am new to Germany, studying for my Masters Degree in Artificial Intelligence. I would like to travel frequently when I have time and host people in the small and beautiful Bavarian town of Deggendorf. I am up on BeWelcome as well - https://www.bewelcome.org/members/rohanmitra!

🗺️ About Travel

Travelling for me moves beyond the deep desire of seeing new places -- it is the source of connecting to the physical world, an immense act of pleasure. It helps shaping who I am, my views and my relation to the world beyond where I was born.

I have been travelling for the past 5 years on my own terms since I made my first money. It is always about the people, their stories and the ingenuity of human connections that takes me to this hunt. Maybe one day I will travel the world, who knows.

Having been travelling across India, solo or with other fellow travellers, I only realize how less we know about the country. I have travelled from the distant remote parts of Zanskar, Kargil to the lush backwaters of Kumarakom, to the beautiful villages of Nagaland. I try to avoid tourist traps, travel light and tend to travel by bus or walk a city. Staying with local hosts, learning their local language, and eating their food are rewarding experiences which I value the most.

Travelling to Vietnam and Sri Lanka alone was a great experience too.

I like being in the mountains. I also travel to eat new food, see new monuments, or walk the roads in an ancient city -- trying to absorb a place one day at a time.

I am studying for my Master's degree currently, I was working in India as a Software Developer before moving to Germany.

I deeply feel the need to stay and experience a place like a local and I find that on CS.

I believe it's a community built on top of trust and meeting fellow like-minded travelers.

I would soon want to start hosting as I get my own place!

- I read books, mostly nonfiction. When I do not travel, biographies, travel memoirs, and history keep me going.

- I enjoy a wide spectrum of music. Over the years, my musical interests have evolved from Metallica and Dream Theater to include a lot of Bach, Chopin, and Mozart. Recently, I have also developed a liking for Hindustani Classical music.

- I like world movies and documentaries. Sir David Attenborough is my favorite!
