About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn. Love. Figure it all out.

ABOUT ME

Hello I'm Rohan!

I grew in Canberra, the capital of Australia (yes, that's right it's not Sydney!), until the end of high school and then i moved to sydney where i studied various things, some of them aborted rather quickly (architecture after first year!) and others which have stuck until now (of course, the infamous Arts degree...). In my studies I focus on too many disparate things I think, but I base my study decisions right now just on what I really want to know more about, and the rest will come later (if at some point i decide to model my life in some rational way...) Basically I'm majoring in Spanish language and philosophy, but i also study history, politics, and a bit of linguistics. This january I relocated to Zaragoza, Spain for the final year of this degree, where I am still currently living. Later in the year I plan to move to Madrid and keep studying/working, and after this little project I will probably start a law degree. I'm also really interested in pursuing artistic study/practice, principally photography and drawing. Oh and I am dying to get back into making some music! Yet to see how this might be realised... Other side interests that could potentially turn into worky-schooly things would be food (i'm manic) and maybe fashion.

How do i live? I put a lot of thought into it...maybe too much. But i like to live well, meaning taking care of every aspect of life and doing a balanced job, looking at the details and the overall picture. This means working hard, thinking hard, eating good food, constantly learning, enjoying my friends, who are precious precious!, remembering to be open minded, exercising the body, meditating, reading and writing, art and music, FILM, gadgets, and then at the end also hopefully sometimes forgetting about these criteria and just experiencing what there is.

Activities-wise, when I'm not studying I'm usually eating. I love food & cooking, and most of my activities are arranged accordingly. I love going to the beach (every day in summer in sydney! i miss you!), reading enlightening books, watching and talking about great film, having picnics, swimming, doing yoga, throwing grand dinner parties (my friends will attest), sharing a drink on a sunny balcony, doing the crossword...

I also like to involve myself in various types of adventure (like many have been already on this europe leg, and YOU could be involved in the next one!)

open minded & reflective.

some good cheese bread and wine will make me happy any day.

dogs, not cats.

primary, THEN secondary texts.

I will stop i'm becoming incoherent.

PHILOSOPHY

I am still finalising the finer points of my grand life philosophy. Generally characterised by self-reflection, trying to develop a solid morality, open-mindedness, trying to remember to relax.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm still pretty new to this. Have surfed a couple of times in Zaragoza and Barcelona and hosted once here in Zaragoza. At the moment I am travelling a lot so I am mainly doing the requesting, not the hosting! but of course I would love to host anyone when i can back in sydney! All of you europeans have to get over the fact that it's far away ok and just come!! :P

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Totally positive so far. Excited for the possibilities of CS.
