About Me

"The cosmos is within us. We are made of star stuff. We are a way for the cosmos, to know itself" - Carl Sagan.

I am a staunch follower of the scientific method and rationality, but I like to believe that the quote above is the answer to "what is the meaning of life?" In the absence of an absolute meaning to life and the universe, we invent our own meaning. So here I am, on my noble pursuit to perceive the world and act as one of its loyal sensory organs.

I like forests and wildlife, food, culture, politics, philosophy and a bit of history. When I am not out in a forest looking at trees and birds I can't identify, I like having respectful but heated and interesting discussions and debates on profound philosophical questions, world politics, ecology and human behaviour.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Two reasons:
1) To be honest, I have a job that I love doing, but it pays really badly. One full-fledged trip, especially outside my country, will make my financial situation very tight.

2) The people on this website, people who are willing to host strangers and be hosted themselves at the homes of people they have never met, are amazing. They share with me the yearning to get to know people, gain and share knowledge and experiences, and are willing to help out fellow travellers. I feel that is the best kind of people to interact with when I am in a new place. I will learn way more about the place and the people than if I were to stay alone in a hotel room.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once while working in the forests at the foothills of the Himalayas, I impulsively decided to trek more than 30 km in a day on my own.

Teach, Learn, Share

"I have approximate knowledge of many things" - Demon cat, Adventure time.

I don't know if I can teach much. I am more of a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none kind of person and in no way an expert on anything. Maybe I know some statistics, programming and ecology better than I know other things. I might also be able to teach you how to make some really basic Indian dishes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I might be able to identify some plants, birds and insects to some extent if the hosts are interested in them. I will be able to give what I learned over the years about the landscapes and people of India, their cultures, their foods, their politics and so on....

I can also help with minor household and outdoor chores and if given the right ingredients and utensils, cook some simple Indian dishes.

Countries I’ve Visited

Norway

Countries I’ve Lived In
