About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to see and do as much as i can before medicine takes over my life :) Preferably in the sunshine ;)

ABOUT ME

I'm a junior doctor, currently living with my big bro in Glasgow. I absolutely love Scotland, it is such a beautiful and friendly country... if it would just stop raining a little more often!

And I love all forms of travelling - caravaning with my family around europe, back-packing solo, lazing on a beach with good friends a cocktail... nothing better :)

PHILOSOPHY

Try to get out and about, meet as many people as possible and have fun along the way :) I can see life turning into one long doctor-patient interview, and i don't want it that way!
I want to keep on experienceing new places and learning more about myself and others... and maybe working abroad at some point.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like hosting and plan to do more surfing in my holidays this year.

I get some funny shifts, and my brother has a CS account too, so I can't always promise to have a couch available, but I'll try!

Otherwise it's fun to meet up for some chats and to show people around the city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only surfed one couch myself, but i've met lots of people staying at my brother's place and am happy to have more staying!

Interests

Films - pretty much all kinds, from small-budget to blockbusters...
Travelling - guess that's kinda obvious wouldn't be on this otherwise!

Music, Movies, and Books

these are so hard, there's always so many!

Films - Some comedy - Anchorman, Monty Python; action/drama - Fight club, comicbook films...; some foreign - Jean de Florette, Y tu mama tambien, Amelie; some cheesy - Moulin Rouge, Big Fish and a bit of classic Disney never goes amiss ;)

Music - i don't even know... kinda anything except Jazz and Heavy Metal

Books - Anything Steinbeck, Harry Potter, Brave New World, A Child Called It, the Dark Materials, The Kite Runner, Crime and Punishment.

TV shows - Flight of the Conchords, good old-school british comedy like Blackadder and Fawlty Towers

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I particularly enjoyed the salt flats of Bolivia. Beautiful colours, and amazing hot springs when it was -5 degrees celcius outside!

Teach, Learn, Share

If you're going to Malawi, you shouldn't swim in the lake - but you will. Get a blood test from your doctor, at least 4 weeks after last exposure to the water, for a parasite called schistosomiasis - it's not that bad, but contraction is pretty common.

Also, a Haggis is a small four legged mammal that lives in the Highlands. It's left legs are shorter than the right.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Bolivia, Chile, France, Germany, Guatemala, Ireland, Italy, Malawi, Malta, Peru, Portugal, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey
