I have been in a transitional period for about a year now and I am currently in the process of exploring and eventually relocating once I figure out where the next chapter of my life wants to unfold. I decided it was time to modify the profile I put up in 2005 , as a *few* things have changed since then!
I love meeting new people, although I am an introvert so I may scurry away to recharge my batteries after a certain amount of time around them (same with people I've known for decades).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am one of the original members of CS - I still have the email dated 6/5/05 verifying my membership! Thus far I've only been on (and thoroughly enjoyed) the hosting end, but I am finally preparing to try the other side and avail myself of the kindness of fellow CS members.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
As stated above, so far I have only been on the hosting end, but hope to change that soon. While neither of the following were officially part of CS, these are what prepared me to be so open to it when it came on the scene years later.

1. Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 1999. Whenever we dropped into a little town along the trail to pick up our food and supply packages, we had offers all through the town from total strangers of a shared meal, a bath, a place to stay, etc. Amazing.

2. Arriving in Austin, Texas in 1999. Found myself rather unexpectedly on my own with little money, no job and no place to stay in a new city. The kindness of strangers (and their gifts of shelter) and the evil (yet occasionally life-saving) credit card allowed me to get back on my feet and stay in Austin. I was there for ten amazing years and will forever be grateful for having that opportunity.

Intereses

Romping around outdoors; engaged in conversation; learning something new; devouring the latest book – both fiction and non-; listening to music; trying not to get out-maneuvered on the chess board; hanging with friends; cooking and eating, among others.
