About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Save the world.

ABOUT ME

I graduated from college in May 2012 and since then I've been teaching English in the Czech Republic. I love books, music, film, television and art, and especially talking about them. I love cooking and pretty much everything to do with food, especially vegetables. I also love going out, having a good time and getting to know whoever happens to be around!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never stayed with a host before, but I have used Couchsurfing to meet people in my area when I moved to a tiny Czech town where no one spoke English.

Interests

I love learning about different cultures and ways of life, and the way people from different backgrounds view the world differently. I love talking and thinking about politics, but I can also rein that in if it's not your area of interest. Finally, I really like making and listening to music.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love lots of different kinds of music - indie rock, pop, some hip hop, folk, and classical. I studied classical vocal music for years and have been teaching myself the ukulele for about a year, although sadly I had to leave my ukie in the States. In the meantime, I've been picking up a little mandolin.

My favorite books are Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, Manuel Puig's Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Michel Foucault's History of Sexuality, Vol. I.

I'm not very good at picking favorite movies, but sometimes I cite The Constant Gardener. The best movie I saw this summer was Moonrise Kingdom.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in Morocco for a semester of college was truly life-changing/mind-blowing. I traveled all over the country, including a three-night camping trip in the Sahara. I'm excited for more adventures in the Czech Republic!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm happy to practice languages: English, French, Arabic and a little, tiny bit of Czech. I also just love talking about culture and people and politics and art and literature and music and basically any subject that could be described as either "nerdy" or "intellectual."
