Hola!

My name is Roman, I'm from Caracas, Venezuela, a vibrant city in a chaotic country; and currently living in Calgary, Canada. I can say my life have been shaped deeply by the contrast of these two very different worlds, making me just another soul trying to figure out what is up with this crazy but wonderful world, and where do I fit in all this.

I believe there is nothing better than the feeling of true freedom we get from traveling. After living and traveling Europe for almost a year, I returned looking to meet new people and continue my travels. Unfortunately, life has caught up with me and I'm unable to do so, instead, I'll let the world come to me.

I'm friendly, polite, relaxed and adaptable. It'd take a lot to ruin my almost perpetual good mood! I enjoy meeting new people, sharing stories, making new memories, and learning new things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

CS is a good tool for meeting interesting, like-minded people, and getting to know a place a little better than going for the touristic approach.

Now that I have used it for surfing and hanging out, I can say it is a great community with a lot of interesting people.

Interests

Sports, soccer, history, languages, traveling, whales, casual drinking, snowboarding, humans, outdoors, roadtrips, traveling, hiking, good conversations, ghost stories, Latin America, the north, games, more games, traveling, random walks, people, culture, the meaning of life...and of course, traveling.

I like to get a local perspective and do/see exciting and unique things from the places I visit. However, simplicity is also enjoyable, I'm always down for having a drink at a local bar or just wandering around. Same applies for when I'm hosting.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music is varied. I enjoy listening to latin music mainly, but I also like reggae, rock, alternative, and a mainstream song once in a while. I really do not discriminate when it comes to music. My favorite band is Oasis.

I like bold tv shows like GoT or Breaking Bad.

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak fluent English and Spanish, always willing to teach others a word or two in either language. I like languages in general so I'm always going to be receptive to learn more about yours :)

I'm not a good cook I admit, but I could prepare some Venezuelan food if you are hungry, or we can have some food exchange. No worries, we could always order 50% off pizza! :P

I found out during my travels that a lot of people like latin music. I'm not the best dancer, but I could do my best to teach you some latin moves and share some songs if you are interested.
