About Me

Hello! I'm Roman and I'm on this site to find friends & have meaningful exchanges. I'm not hosting people who just want to have a place to sleep for free.

I'm fascinated by languages and communication, so I'm always looking for new friends and language exchange partners in Vienna.

I'm currently finishing my master's in political science. This degree has taught me to analyze social processes, and I'm specifically interested in how individuals and groups negotiate and experience their identities in political space. Topic-wise I am focusing on civic activism, social movements, citizenship, migration and democratization.

I can host in Vienna (11th district), in a separate room on an air mattress.

I study politics and I'm from Ukraine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and political positioning. But politics is about constant competition between these positions who fight to gain a majority. If you don't like political debates, better don't text me if you have any of the following positions on the Russo-Ukrainian war AND are not ready to change them:
- that Ukraine should negotiate with Russia while having Russian troops on its territory
- that other countries shouldn't send weapons to Ukraine
- that Russia invaded because it was provoked by the West/USA/NATO
- that Ukraine should stay neutral/not enter NATO.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think sharing life experiences and outlooks can have a positive impact on people and help them grow.

Interests

Recently I've tried HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), where I practiced the long sword. I also have a collection The Little Prince editions in different languages & I'm using it to practice those languages.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in a 6-week project in Tbilisi, Georgia, where I was giving lectures about many different aspects of Ukraine and Austria for Georgian university students while also learning a lot about Georgia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I absolutely LOVE cooking, eating, sharing, enjoying, discovering (all that good stuff) FOOD from all the WORLD. So if I stay with you or viceversa, expect some culinary adventures.

I enjoy languages a lot, not only the ones I'm actively learning. So I would appreciate some linguistic exchange!
