About Me
My girlfriend’s profile: http://couchsurfing.org/people/mislina-kan/ Hello! 👋 Roman and Mislina here. I’m from Canada; she’s from Turkey. I’m a filmmaker who quit his day job to travel the world. Mislina is a university student, interested in fine arts. I was one year into my journey, and had just come to Mersin, a Turkish city on the Mediterranean coast. I decided to settle there and teach English. That’s when Mislina and I met and, kind of, sort of, fell in in love. Now we’re sharing in our first journey together!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We’re on couchsurfing to meet travellers, wanderers, and locals who can teach us about who they are and where they come from. To share in a community of vagabonds. To make friends!
Music, Movies, and Books
I have a big passion for film. I really admire the work of Asghar Farhadi, Kim Ki-Duk, and Takeshi Kitano. The two films that inspired me to make movies are Lost In Translation and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.
I bounce from novels, self-help books, and autobiographies. I really like the works of Haruki Murakami. Been getting into books on meditation and mindfulness. My favourite autobiographies are by Gandhi and Malcom X.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of us appeared on a nationally broadcast television show; the other has a slightly overweight cat.
Teach, Learn, Share
We can share Canadian and Turkish culture, and teach you how to cook traditional Russian and Turkish food. And of course, we can share stories of our adventures together!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Always happy to lend a helping hand in any way we can. Share stories of our travels. We can teach you Russian and Turkish, and cook some traditional Russian and Turkish meals!
