About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discover the real California. Or as much of it as I can in a month.
Complete my first full feature film

ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm Roman. Some people call me Rom. My proper name is Romanos. I grew up and live in Pireaus, the port of Athens, Greece.

I absolutely love movies, I work as an Assistant Director in commercials, films and TV, and along with my friends we constantly shoot our own projects, be it short films, videos or videoclips.
(You can catch a glimpse of our work here: https://vimeo.com/romanargy )

I am really passionate about urban sociology and anthropology and I love getting to know cities and their people, and analysing their relationships and forms (not professionaly or anything, just for myself and the people I talk to) - and have a specifically soft spot for the outcasts.
I'm obsessed with the concept of the "generation", the idea of a collective psyche that gives the world its essence.
I also strongly believe that Slacking Off is a political act. A counteraction (as ironic as it may be to call slacking off an "action") to a system that constantly forces us into a Machiavellian rat race, alienating us and making us fell like the people around us are our enemies, instead of our brothers.
Lastly I think that laughter is one of the most important things. That we should look at everything with a more comedic eye, find the humour and the irony in our everyday lifes.

All of the above are the themes of my first feature film, a social realistic mockumentary in the form of a stoner comedy - that takes a one night journey through Athens and all of its "tribes". Hopefully soon enough I will have something to show here as well...

I also love music, pretty much everything besides Metal. Since high school we had a Garage-Punk band with three of my friends (I used to play guitar and sing - well basically shout to be honest - you can check it out for yourself here but it's in Greek so...: https://youtu.be/TCxM2mqJ16Y )
Now we have a hip-hop duo with another friend and generally make music for own enjoyment.

I like to travel a lot and usually spend most of any money I have managed to save on it! My brother lives in Amsterdam, many of my friends live around Europe, so i try to get around as much as I can.

PHILOSOPHY

I actually like the motto "You are now here, so be here now" and i try to live by it as much as I can.
Plus, I think the only thing we have in this life is our connection to others. And comedy.
