ABOUT ME
I'm a world wanderer who takes pleasure in the simple things in life. I have sailed the Pacific, drove through the Gobi desert, hiked mountains, and met some of the most incredible people - all of which I am grateful for.
I am what some would call "genki" which essentially means I am high energy and a ball of fun! I got hooked to traveling after my first solo trip at 18 and have never looked back. I used to work to travel, and now I plan and dream of the trips that I will take in the future.
I lived in London for two years before I sailed for 3 months from Brisbane to China and then across the Pacific Ocean to San Francisco as part of the Round the World Yacht Race!I spent the summer doing workaway in the south of France to improve my French and enjoy all it has to offer (yummy food and wine on the top of the list!).
Spent a few years in Toronto, Canada to complete my Masters in Environmental Studies (specializing in Education).
Now living in Ketchikan Alaska, having married Andrew (who grew up here). Love exploring the outdoors and having adventures!
PHILOSOPHY
You have a choice in everything you do, including your reactions and how you approach your day. I always wake up smiling!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted many times in Vancouver, and have been warmly welcomed by last minute hosts in Europe. hope to continue to meet other awesome surfers that value what this experience offers
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was coming home from Whistler on my own when I drove past two young guys hitching with a sign to "Vancouver". Even though I have been told never to pick up hitch hikers I sensed they were good guys. I pulled over and they hopped in. We tried to make it to the Greyhound bus but unfortunately it was closed. they had no place to stay so I invited them to my Dad's for the family bbq. Then took them home to my mom's house with me, where they crashed on the couches. We got up early and I got them to the first bus in time. A few weeks later I got a postcard from them!!!
Since then I have hosted tons of surfers in my home in Vancouver. I have also met lovely hosts who shared the secrets of their hometowns or current area.
