Overview
About Me
My main hobby is eclipse chasing. The bigger background behind it is fascination by astronomy and passion for travel. As of 2024 I've been to 52 countries and I'm close to having traveled to each continent twice: 2nd time Australia/NZ is being planned for late 2025. I've excluded Antarctica for now, but in March I'm booked to Greenland, a fair icy alternative.
I do also appreciate small details in my adventures, authentic places and food, seeing animals in the wild rather than zoo, and meeting people for cultural exchange and learning languages (never too many) or just vibes :-)
Travel buddies are much welcome. My means of travel can be anything, from hitchhiking to car rentals, blablacar to safari trucks, tuk-tuks and matatus to Airbus 350 (as in the photo). I love hiking, mostly as day trips - sadly not a very experienced camper. Coolest idea I had so far: driving 4000km around Western Australia in a small Toyota van, including 5 days off-grid.
Feel free to ask me about travel tips in the countries that I lived in!
Try to be specific with the dates of your stay. I often have a pretty intense work schedule, hence not always available.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the idea to feel at home anywhere in the world, not in a particular country. So at any place I visit I really try to feel myself as much local as possible at a time. I have fun meeting interesting people like you. I don't expect anything specific, a cup of coffee could be good start for a long-term friendship.
Interests
Not a big fan of historical sites and sightseeing marathons with a sole purpose to take selfies, however enjoy exploring the city on my own or with a local who knows good stories of the place.
Outdoorsy but lazy. Adore mountains and like spontaneous hikes. Hitchhiked across a bunch of countries, mostly in SE Europe.
Prefer home parties or nice bars with dim lights to overly loud pubs and tasteless clubbing. Non-smoker but tolerating it outside of home.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Chasing the shadow of the Moon at 4 km/s,
Not paying 20$ to guys with Kalashnikov on a desolate island,
Meeting my African sister,
Getting interviewed by state intelligence for accused spying,
Driving through a tornado.
All of these on the same single trip to Kenya.
Teach, Learn, Share
Take me out of the city and I can explain everything what you can see (and also what you cannot see) in the night sky.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Breakfast, a hike and/or short drive in the area, endless travel stories
