ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Ronit! I'm really open minded and I love to try new things. I love spending time with people and staying busy doing everything from rock climbing to yoga to reading books in cafes. I also love dancing and acting in theater performances. I try to be an extremely positive person, so you'll usually find me smiling and laughing.
I taught English in South Korea for the past few years, but I left in the spring to travel to Southeast Asia, India, and Europe. I loved meeting amazing people along the way through couchsurfing!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Same reason as most of you probably...
Interests
Some of my favorite pastimes: Practicing yoga, getting lost in good books, devouring cupcakes (or cookies or brownies or any other sugar filled delight), spending time in the outdoors, participating or watching theatre, meeting new people, long bike rides, trying new things, finding hidden cafes and spending hours laughing with friends. There is just so much to see and do in the world around us. Although, I definitely don't take the small things for granted.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like almost anything but some of my favourite books at the moment are:
-Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World (by Haruki Murakami, although I've enjoyed all the books I read by him such as Norwegian wood, the wind up bird chronicle, Kafka on the shore, his short stories)
-The Martian Chronicles (Ray Bradbury)
-cloud atlas
-the invisible man
-the old man and the sea
-Lolita
-reading Lolita in Tehran
-three cups of tea
-life of Pi
-the white tiger
-Dracula
-Alice in wonderland
-the rainbow fish
-anything by dr Seuss.
-I also enjoy anything that is considered magical realism (ex Gabriel Garcia Marquez -especially one hundred years of solitude-, Jorge Luis Borges, Alejandro Carpentier)
One of my favourite short stories: Letter to a Young Lady in Paris (Julio Cortázar)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1. When I was 16 on one of my first adventures abroad, I was in a gorgeous Costa Rican rainforest walking alongside a 6 year old girl. She was telling me about the cicadas and about how they die because their bodies get worn out from making all that noise. When I asked her why they didn't just stop making that sound so that they could live longer, she responded "What's the point of living if you can't make your sound?" I learned that the world is full of wisdom and beauty (even from the most unexpected places).
2. One hot summer day, I was sitting alone on the dock of my best friend's cottage in the pouring rain, enjoying the scenery. Someone I had met for the first time sat down next to me and we talked for hours as we watched the rain hitting the lake and getting soaked ourselves. He continues to be one of my closest friends to this day. Even though I'd been to that cottage countless times, I felt as though I was seeing the surroundings from fresh eyes. As much as I love new adventures, there is something so beautiful and special about the familiar. Also, I find the rain to be so peaceful and refreshing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can offer you an open mind and active ears (I love listening to the stories that everyone has to share). I'm also happy to share my own stories.
I'm a certified yoga teacher so if you're interested, I'm always willing to share what I know (be it the physical exercise, breathing exercises, meditation pointers, yoga philosophy discussion, etc).
I'm somewhat of a cupcake (and anything sweet) fanatic (not very "yogi" of me, I know, but hey no one is perfect) so I can be your partner in crime anytime you want to go out for some cake or coffee or ice cream.
What I Can Share with Hosts
