About Me
Hey! I'm Roneet Yadav, a 21-year-old seafarer from Mumbai, India. I love traveling and exploring new places, and my job gives me the unique opportunity to experience different cultures around the world. When I'm not out on the seas, I'm all about meeting new people, sharing stories, and learning from others.
As a seafarer, I’m passionate about the ocean, but I’m also very curious about land-based adventures! Whether it's discovering a hidden cafe in a city or exploring remote nature spots, I'm always eager to experience the world from a local’s perspective. I’m easygoing, respectful, and enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life.
In my free time, I like to dive into books, try out new foods, and engage in deep conversations about life, travel, and everything in between. If you're up for some great chats or would like to learn about life on the sea, I’m always happy to share my experiences!
Looking forward to meeting like-minded travelers and hosts. Let’s make some cool memories together!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I believe the best way to experience a new place is through the eyes of the locals. As a seafarer, I’ve been fortunate enough to visit many countries, but I want to dig deeper than the usual tourist spots. Couchsurfing gives me the opportunity to connect with people, share stories, and experience different cultures in a more authentic way.
I love the idea of not just seeing new places, but truly living in them—learning from locals, understanding their way of life, and exchanging experiences. Whether it’s a short stay or a simple coffee, I’m here to make new friends and create memories that go beyond sightseeing. Plus, I enjoy showing others a glimpse of my world, especially the unique experiences I’ve had on the sea.
Looking forward to making new connections and hosting whenever I’m back in Mumbai!

Music, Movies, and Books
My Favorite Music
I’m a fan of all kinds of music, but my tastes often depend on the mood or the place I’m in. On board the ship, I enjoy a good mix of classic rock, reggae, and some chill acoustic tunes to pass the time. But when I’m traveling on land, I like exploring local music—whether it's Bollywood hits, folk music from different countries, or anything that gives me a feel of the local culture.
Some of my favorite artists and bands include:
The Beatles
Bob Marley
A.R. Rahman (a legend in Bollywood music!)
John Mayer
Nirvana
My Favorite Movies
I love movies that tell compelling stories or make me think. I’m a fan of a variety of genres, from action-packed adventures to deep dramas. Some of my all-time favorites are:
The Pursuit of Happyness (Inspiring and emotional)
Interstellar (A mind-bending sci-fi)
Inception (Love a good puzzle!)
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (A Bollywood classic with romance and adventure)
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (I relate to the idea of adventure and escaping the ordinary)
The Beach (The perfect mix of adventure, exploration, and reflection)
My Favorite Books
Books are my escape, and I enjoy everything from thrillers to philosophy. I love to dive into books that open my mind and take me to new places (sometimes even beyond Earth!). Here are a few I really connect with:
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari (A fascinating exploration of our past and future)
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho (A classic about dreams and the journey of life)
Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts (A gripping tale of adventure and self-discovery set in Mumbai)
Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer (An inspiring story about following one’s passion and finding freedom)
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger (A deep dive into teenage rebellion and self-exploration)
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle (A spiritual guide to living in the present moment)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So, I was in Rishikesh, soaking in the peaceful vibes and spiritual energy of the place, when I decided to try something I’d never done before: yoga. I had heard a lot about the yoga culture in Rishikesh, so I thought, “Why not? I’ll give it a go!”
I signed up for a beginner’s class, thinking it would be a calm and serene experience—just stretching, breathing, you know, typical yoga stuff. But as soon as the class started, I realized I might have bitten off more than I could chew. The instructor, a super zen and flexible guru, started with some intense poses that made my body feel like it was doing things I didn’t know were humanly possible. I was trying to keep up with everyone, but I ended up tangled in a position that can only be described as a “human pretzel” while everyone else was in perfect flow.
Then came the fun part. We moved into the “headstand” pose. I thought, “How hard can it be? It’s just standing on my head.” Well, my first attempt ended with me tipping over like a fallen tree, straight into the yoga mat next to me, causing a chain reaction that sent three other people toppling like dominoes. We all burst out laughing, and the instructor, trying to maintain his calm, just said, “It’s okay, you are just learning to fall… it’s part of the journey.”
By the end of the class, I was more sore than I’d ever been, but I had a huge grin on my face. Not only had I tried yoga in the spiritual capital of the world, but I’d also managed to turn it into a hilarious chain of events. It was a reminder that sometimes, travel isn’t about being perfect; it’s about embracing the mess, having fun, and laughing at yourself.
