ABOUT ME

Hi,my name is Rongkun Liu and currently working as Program Manager with the Pendeba Society, a local NGO in the Qomolangma (Mt Everest) National Nature Preserve in Tibet, China. I enjoy traveling and making friends from diverse culturals and social backgrounds and it is a great way to enrich knowledge about the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Still mind cradles infinite serenity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Introduced to CS by my friend when I was working in Khon Kaen, Thailand. However, Khon Kaen seems like a less travelled city in Thailand, so I did not meet many CSers there...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had great couchsurfing experience when I was traveling in Pakistan and Iran, and I wanted to continue the spirit of CS not just for being hosted, but I would also like to host people as well.

Interests

Traveling, photography, reading and hiking. Enjoy the natural and cultural wonders!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working on the roof of the world - Tibet, and helping local communities better preserve their beautiful natural and cultural heritages.

Feel free to check out the website for more information about my work in Tibet; you will get intrigued :) www.pendeba.org

Teach, Learn, Share

I studied international politics but do not feel like I enjoyed it. Then I moved on to study environmental policy which inspired myself to be a conservationist, and that's how I ended up working in one of the highest national nature preserves in the world, the Qomolangma (Mt Everest) National Nature Preserve. Working on the Third Pole is not easy, but I enjoy the spectacular natural wonders and kind people living there! And I try to cultivate inner peace in my mind by practicing Tibetan Buddhism.

Countries I’ve Visited

Afghanistan, Armenia, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Egypt, France, Georgia, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Laos, Maldives, Nepal, Netherlands, North Korea, Pakistan, Peru, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, United States, Viet Nam
