ABOUT ME

I live in downtown LA, which means I'm in one of the craziest, most interesting parts of the city! If you like cool architecture, good nightlife, Japanese food, live theater, colorful homeless people or drinking -- you'll be happy!

It's also the hub for public transportation - which is important in a city like LA. Hollywood, Echo Park, Pasadena, Silver Lake, Koreatown and even Universal Studios are all easily accessible via public transit.

I grew up outside of Washington, DC and went to college near Chicago. Of course I love to travel and meet people from different cultures. My favorite place in the world is probably Belgium (small but mighty - vive la Belgique!!)

I love jazz, good food and good wine. And of course good company! I've been really pleased since my move to downtown los angeles. It's an area that's in the middle of an exciting transition with inspiring architecture, nightlife and cultural goings-on.

I'm a writer so you can say I'm more of the artistic type. I've written a lot of kids' TV shows and I'm working on my first young adult novel. I also sing with a jazz trio from time to time. I absolutely love theater - everything from big productions to small, independent plays performed in warehouses.

So if you're an adventuresome person who's not afraid of the grittiness of downtown LA and want to see a part of the city that is more off the tourist track, send me a request. And please mention what kind of music you like.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've met many great people from all over the world. When I can't travel, it's nice to have to world come to me.

Interests

I love sailboat racing! There's no better place than being on the bow of a sailboat with water washing over you. I also love: beach volleyball, jazz music, PARTYING and artisan Latvian cheeses (OK - I made up the last part.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my most unique trips was a two-day journey to the Northern Frontier District in Kenya to the most remote lodge in the world. The closest neighbors were a day's journey away on a distant mountaintop.
