Hi there,

I am Ronja, a nurse from Germany and currently travelling kind of everywhere and nowhere. I started my trip May 2015. I was mainly in Southeastasia and India, then in the USA to visit friends and family, next stop was Nicaragua to visit a friends and explore a bit and soon I will be going to Australia for work and travel.
I love meeting new people, exploring new places and learning about new cultures. I think it is incredible to get a small insight in people's lifes all around the world! And I am very grateful to have the opportunity to do so!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I love meeting and connecting with new people! I met so many incredible individuals on this journey and got to listen to all there unbelievable stories. I also feel like you get a better insight into the culture of the country, if you have the chance to stay with the people of the coutry. You get to see how they live, what is important, what they might do different, what they eat - just in general how they get through life. During my travels I got to stay in some homestays and at people's homes that just invited me, as we met. It was an amazing experience and I am very grateful to all those, who let me stay at their homes.
I wanted to look into couchsurfing earlier, but really just managed to do it now. I am a bit sad on what opportunities I missed out, but better late than never! I also - once I am back home - would love to host people. So they can explore my country and learn about our culture. And because there are so many wonderful people in this world I have not met yet!

Interests

I enjoy traveling the world and while doing that learning about cultures, people, religions, new skills, foods! I love talking to other people an hear about their life stories- you can learn so much from everyone!
I like skiing, snowboarding, swimming and windsurfing (even though I haven't done that in a while). I enjoy walking in nature, hiking, being in the moment and being grateful for this amazing planet we live on!
I am not a good photographer, but I really like trying to get a good pic! I also am one of these persons that still writes postcards, because I like the fact that they actually travel a bit before they get to you.
I am a nurse and I enjoy volunteering, this way you get to know the people and can hopefully help them into a happier situation. You also are very close to them and their culture, most of the time I feel I get as much from them as they get from me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I listen to all kinds of music- literally: musicals, rock, a little bit metal, classic (I used to play piano), pop, hiphop (thanks to my former roommate, who always made me listen and dance to it :D)

Movies: I mostly like all kinds of movies and get very scared watching Horror (my cousin says he loves watching horror movies with me just to watch me reavt to it) my favourite movies are Marry Poppins, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter -- I am a huge potthead :D

Series: Game of Thrones as it's fantasy with a medival style,
Big Bang Theory (love those nerds- I really like that they are so passionate about things (like superheros, comics e.g.), that's what I like in people to- if they have something they are passionate about),
Grey's Anatomy (Yes Drama drama drama - normally not my thing but this one I really like - also because it's about doctors and hospital. I sometimes miss working in the hospital so it's nice to watch, even if often a little unrealistic :'D)

Books: I am not much of a bookworm. But I actually read and love Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit. Otherwise I am more into audiobooks, so I don't have to do the reading :P I like Fantasy books e.g. Narnia, the golden compass, the hunger games (not so much fantasy though) but also sometimes listen to literature and peoems

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one?! I feel like my life has been quite amazing especially in this past year...
Maybe that I left to travel the world for two years?! I feel like that's pretty amazing?! :P
I got to dive with sea trutles, ride a camel in the rajasthani desert, go hiking in the himalaya, motorbike vietnam, meet wonderful people, explore the planet...

But maybe I would say the volunteering I did in Ghana, when I was 18. That was one of the most amazing things, because for the first time in my life I got thrown into a completly different culture, learn from these lovley and generous people and learn to love travel! It was the reason I started this worldtrip. The reason I got to experience this amazing world. It opened my eyes.
