ABOUT ME
I'm not here as much as before, sorry for what i see are allot of unanswered requests. Started a new business and it needs all my attention. However I'll leave some advice on here.
Some people in my country have used this medium as a way to make money or meet someone they believe will get them a visa to get out of here(supposedly falling inlove). Firstly if you're being charged, to be picked up at the airport use your brain. I have heard fees of 45Euros etc, don't do that, get a JUTA driver they charge US20 per person, they are usually well dressed wearing a uniform With ID that says JUTA, typically driving mini buses. If your surfer is offering to pick you up and they want you to contribute to gas JA$ 2000, US20.00 or 17EURO is enough.
If you're being charged to stay at your surfers house/apt again use your brain..There are quite a few boutique hotels there that offer good value.
If you have watched Shotta's etc that is not our entire story, Jamaica has ghettos yes, but our entire country is not a ghetto. Well think on this, should i expect every Swede, Norwegian etc to be a blood thirsty Viking, or every Brit to be a little old lady drinking tea or dressed in leather with a Mohawk speaking unintelligible cockney?
An american wearing a ten gallon hat, cowboy boots shooting everything in sight?
There is no such person as a typical Jamaican you do have typical behaviours and norms associated with our socioeconomic groups, but there are certain patterns that cuts across social lines. We love to eat, dance laugh, we can be quite social. To have an authentic experience does not mean we have to be poor and can only speak our dialect. Have fun here, try meet REAL people who see you as more than a white face with money. Enjoy the food and music. I'll try and lend a hand where I can but if not feel free to contact me for advice..
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well I'm hoping that I can help spread the gift of friendship and kindness.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
For me personally none yet,That's about to change as I will have my first experience in a few weeks.I should admit I was forced into it as it seems all the hostels were booked. Late night news can be beneficial, I heard about this couch surfing thing so now I'm trying it. I have however hosted people I have met on the net, not at my home, made arrangements for them to get them cheap rates then dragged them all over having fun all the way.
Just an update I HAVEN'T COUCHSURFED YET, the idea of staying for a few days and unpacking doesn't appeal to me too much work haha, but never say never :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmmm well if this includes adolescent stunts, leaning out of a speedind car to ask a girl out-she said yes lol.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach lets see English (THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS JAMAICAN ENGLISH)..- English is our national language, there is also patois - our dialect/creole. I'd like people who come here to see the many sides of Jamaica, not just rural poverty and beaches and weed/ganja/marijuana. We area complex diverse people.
