About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy life to the fullest extent possible.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Canada. After finishing University I decided to go on a 5 month trip to Europe. One thing led to another and 12 months later I was in Sydney, Australia where I became a teacher. I managed to get in another couple of overseas trips of 13 and 16 months respectively then settled down to raise a family. My children are now grown up and travelling themselves. With no responsibilities and financial independence I now have the freedom to return to the real love of my life, 'travelling'. In 2006/2007 I went on a 10 month Round The World trip to see if I could enjoy the 'travel' experience. On that trip I visited Canada, Mexico, Central America, Spain and India. I loved it so after a 3 month regrouping experience I went off for another 12 months to South America, Canada & India. I've had another 7 months in Canberra and am off for another year. This time around I will be spending 7 months going from Ushuaia to Bogota, a month in Canada and finally 2 1/2 months in Thailand Cambodia and Laos.

PHILOSOPHY

Travel grows you as a person. I come back different after every trip.

Interests

Meeting new people. Learning about culture, history, languages and geography. Hiking. Exploring new environments. Trying new food. Using technology not for its own sake but to improve my life and the life of others.

Music, Movies, and Books

In spite of their obvious shortcomings Lonely Planet guides are really helpful for logistics and planning. The best places are often not yet in the book. I enjoy novels with a historical side and books about culture and history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2007 I spent 12 days in a wooden canoe in Pacayia Samiria Reserve in the Amazon. What I saw was simply amazing. Also in 2007 I did a couple of horse riding trips out of Leymebamba, Peru. These took me into real India Jones type territory.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you are to continue to develop as a human being it is important to take yourself out of your comfort zone.
