Overview
About Me
I'm 24 and just graduated out of University. Being a social sciences student I'm interested in international relations, cultural anthropology and aspects of gender. I identify myself as a liberal, free thinking person.
I've been born and brought up in Calcutta. Thereafter I have studied in Bangalore and Mumbai. I have travelled to Nepal and have lived in U.S.A. for sometime. I am well travelled in India and have visited almost all states here, a lot of visits being solitary.
Through all my visits, being a student I've faced difficulty in budgeting for my accomodation and experiencing the real culture of a place. This is my way of opening up my place and time to show people around the city, to experience the real flavour.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It was in 2017, when I travelled to the United States as a youth cultural ambassador under the Department of State, U.S.A. My fellow ambassador, had not received her stipend due to some technical error and I had to bear the cost of both of us, in a place like New York. It was at that point a Costa Rican friend of mine introduced me to this app and I got to meet some of the nicest people not just in NYC but in Washington DC, Philadelphia and Asheville. Some individuals offered to host us, and some bought us dinner or lunch or simply took us out to visit a museum and share a coffee. It was the most heartfelt experiences I've ever had in my life.
Being from a third world country, and being extremely skeptical about sexual advances from hosts since I was a woman being hosted or taken out for free I was very apprehensive about using this, but the situation forced me to. And I am so happy it happened. It made me trust people and this is my way of paying it forward to travellers!
It is also a great space to learn and interact with humans!
Namaste and welcome!
