About Me

CURRENT MISSION
I am leading an agroecological center in the Upper Mayo region, near Moyobamba. I am connecting concepts about forest ecology, botany, human well being, permaculture, low tech, nature design, architecture, food production and transformation, natural medicine, and philosophy.

PREVIOUSLY
Performed and study forest restoration on degraded tropical lands in the Peruvian Amazon, PhD in forest ecology.

ABOUT ME

I'm a naturalist, musicians, traveler, entrepreneur, seeking enlightening and beauty in everything.
I am interested in many fields of studies and i'm keen on getting new skills. My main passions: Forest ecosystems, musics, plants, travel, and fly. I enjoy evolving in a diverse ecosystem, from a biological to a ethnological perspective. I wish Ecosystem wouldn't be changing so fast due to human demography increase but we have to live with it. There is good in the world.
I am now doing my PhD in University of Aberdeen about Forest restoration Ecology, doing field work at the foothills of the Andes, door step to the Amazonian basin.

PHILOSOPHY

i am a nomad, and whatever i believe brotherhood is essential. My commitment to not judge the people whatever they do, however i have got personal opinions about nature conservation and ecosystems restoration. When i met an Indonesian man that offered me his roof and a meal close to Kerinci, i couldn't blame this man, although i could never more disagree with the palm oil culture he was doing on a pristine forest he had logged with his family. We have all different life history and no one is better than other. This fundamentally different traits makes humans diverse, and it's a richness of our species.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing provides opportunities to meet great people, and share enlightening experiences. The place I will be sharing is very large and definitely for more people than myself. It is therefore natural for me to open it to travelers who which to take part in the forest activities with me
My contribution in Couchsurfing will be by receiving host in my field station of Yanapay, at 45 minutes boat from the city of Moyobamba. Its a kind of heaven if you can handle mosquitoes and wish to give a hand. I normally receive volunteers who work here for a roof, and be part of the experience. There are beautiful trees, a great river where we can swim, and we plant indigenous trees to restore the native forest on former agricultural land.

Interests

Living life, and learn as i believe that its the most powerfull gift humans have.
Botany, Music and travel adventures naturally came into my life, and that's how i live. I also do compromises, and do my best to rediscover everyday a way of loving them.
I do ecological field work and analyse my observation in a scientific way.
I play violin (from jazz to classic, going through rock and reggae), swimm, skuba dive, Rock climb, snorkel, paraglide, sail. I like to meet people,
I'm happy walking in forests, writing my observations, discovering the landscape that appears when i'm wandering around new places.
