About Me

Hello! I am an Irish person on a holiday visa in Australia, travelling largely by myself and hoping to gather a few more stories from people before I leave at the end of April. I don't eat meat or have a driver's licence but I promise that I do have some positive qualities somewhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To put it in short n' sweet terms, I just want to meet people who are living their lives in the places I visit as the times that have made me most happy when travelling is when I am seeing real people doing what they love and showing me why they do it.

Interests

Music (I used to make records with a rock group at home but right now I'm largely a listener), art (especially YOUR art), surfing (I surfed on two occasions and stood up a total of four times, so much fun!), skateboarding (I had one here but left it in Kangaroo Island, sadly), culture, history, your stories about anything and everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm currently favouring jazz, hip-hop and soul but I am willing to listen to anything you can show me - I pick the tunes when I'm walking around town alone so I'm only too happy to hear something new!

I am also open to any film suggestions, the last thing that rocked my world was The Godfather Parts 1 & 2, still haven't seen Part 3.

If you watch The Simpsons, you and I will get on SO well.

I read mostly biographies but am trying to get back into fiction, make a recommendation please.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

See above surfing story. I also had a breathtakingly beautiful camping road trip around Victoria last month and that was pretty darn amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: some old Irish cultural stuff (I am not fluent but capable of speaking the mother tongue) and, as mentioned below, your favourite TV theme on guitar.

Learn: more about where I am.

Share: anything you want! If you ever make it over to Ireland, I'll share my home with you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am an abominable cook but can help with preparing meals however I can and I washed dishes all day for a week in SA so will happily do that;

I can take you out for dinner to compensate for the previous point;

I can run errands for you if you have work during the day as I am tired of being idle;

I will happily clean your house to the best of my ability;

I can teach you curses and swear words in my native Irish language;

I just bought a guitar (haven't played much in the last two months so I'm a bit rusty) and I am willing to soundtrack you while you go about your business AND I will play as many Beatles songs as I can remember if you are willing to sing them; I can teach you how to play the theme tune from The Bill (or another television series of your choice) on guitar if you wish;

You can have the run of my Spotify Premium account for the duration of my stay;

I have loads of call credit but nobody to ring so your next few phone calls are on me;

If you tell me enough about you, I'll do my best to buy you a meaningful present;

If you rap, I will make you some beats when I get home and we can release our mix tape online around September or so.
