Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To live my life like a Simon and Garfunkel song

ABOUT ME

Hello all, I am Aurora. I was born in Boston, MA, and I grew up in St. Louis, MO in the USA. I studied theater for a year at the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico, and in 2008 I moved to the UK to be an Au pair for 6 months, and I finished my BA in Costume Design and Realisation at Northbrook College in Sussex, England, in 2012.

I have a big family and love having lots of people around! And I like summer. And I also like toasted ravioli, only available in St. Louis, and I'll make it for you if you stay with me or I come stay with you! :D

I sometimes overuse the exclamation mark, so I'm working on reducing my usage of it so it's more poignant...!!!! Not quite there yet!!!

PHILOSOPHY

You are who you make yourself, and the things that shape you are the things that you allow to shape you. So go explore and don't make any excuses to be lazy or unhappy.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would love to learn more about other people, other lifestyles, and the way different cultures live in their day to day lives. I think we all have so much in common, and it's amazingly fun to meet and party with all sorts of new people!

I've done a little surfing and a lot of hosting over the past 5 years. Met some really fun, awesome, intelligent people, sometimes for a fleeting moment of fun, sometimes to keep in touch with. I like both of these forms of CS friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed with Yann in Oxford
Tom in Guildford
and Eleina in Bristol
and me and my boyfriend hosted Henry again after we met him in Bristol at Eleina's
and then I met up with Magda for tea in Maidenhead.
great fun!
I hosted a BUNCH of people when I was living in Worthing, each one of them a new, positive experience. My favorite hosting experience was for a homeless couple in Brighton who we ended up hitting it off with and had them stay on 2 separate occasions. They totally changed my perception of the difficulties of life in general.

Intereses

I like creating new things, and meeting people who are curious about things!

I don't know... I guess I could potentially be interested in anything you're interested in. I just like people who are passionate about anything.

Música, películas y libros

Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Almost Famous, The Dark Knight, Bridesmaids and of course the many generic romantic comedies that my clever country produces...

Music: Rock'n'Roll! and folk, and girl rock... and boy rock... and music that is insightful or fun. The Beatles, Alt-J, Sublime, Cold War Kids, Rod Stewart, Pearl Jam, Etta James, Roberta Flac, Aretha Franklin, The Breeders, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, etc etc etc

Books: The Glass Castle, Where the Sidewalk Ends, The Missing Pice Meets the Big O, The Secret Life of Bees, Ender's Game, Blankets, Alias Grace, The Blind Assassin, and other books by Margaret Atwood, East of Eden, Cannary Row, The Wayward Bus, (see a pattern here?)... John Steinbeck makes me love America- like, the most honest description of America I've ever read even though most of his stories are set like 70 years ago.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Being lonely is terribly scary, but after its all over, you feel a billion times stronger.

And I guess I've been lonely in a few situations I've thrown myself in, but being able to meet new people and realize that there's not just one safe place in the world is the most beautiful thing I've witnessed so far in life, I'd say.

Also, living in a dodgy area and learning to be friends with my neighbors instead of being scared of them.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Nothing matters because everthing matters...

I can teach you how to sew, teach you some chords on the guitar, talk about beer and wine, teach you how to cook some kickin cheap meals.
