About Me

UNABLE TO HOST AT THE MOMENT BUT MAY BE AVAILABLE FOR MEETUP

ABOUT ME

Originally from the southern part of the Philippines but currently works in Chiang Mai, Thailand, teaching science in a bilingual school. Apart from trying to constantly upgrade my knowledge and skills for my work, I'm relearning photography also. I abhor selfies though. Even if at this age it is difficult to learn new languages, I am still trying to. I always welcome situations where there is cultivation of learning anything that improves our overall condition. I love animals and really hate the idea of hurting them just to learn tricks for human pleasure. So please, when you become my guest, show some kindness by not visiting zoos, riding elephants or anything of that sort. I also love humans and wish nothing but the best for them even if they become rude sometimes.

PHILOSOPHY

Not sticking to a philosophy is also a philosophy, isn't it? In the past few years, I've learned to be more flexible in life. But that does not mean I'm losing my well-cherished values and perspectives. I am generally advocating for the upgrading of human values which can be manifested by improving the economic and social conditions of the marginalized and their habitat, including among others, the animals and the climate. Sounds pretty big but I think we really have to care about these.

I easily laugh, and aloud. I do really try to open my mind to new ideas, lifestyle, sexual orientations, political perspectives, presence or absence of religion, life and food recipe, style of roasting and brewing coffee, etc., and embracing the proponents for their ingenuity and bravery.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In early 2014, I was introduced to couchsurfing by a couple of friends who spent two good years of hosting in Vientianne and couchsurfing Southeast Asia. Since then I tried to request sleeping spaces and hosts warmly opened up their doors for me and offered me stories, advice and unforgettable conversations. Just recently, I was able to get a non-school based place for me in Chiang Mai, spartan as it is, but I am opening its door too to my fellow wanderers.

But not just because it is spartan, I would just welcome anyone. My space is not a free hotel. If you wish to just go out partying or hanging out and arrive late at night, please don't choose my place. Please read in FULL "My Home" before deciding to send me a request or I will not bother sending you a reply.

Music, Movies, and Books

Khalil Gibran and Pablo Neruda's works moved me in several ways. Still giving me a deep sense of awe are the brilliance of Gabriel Garcia Marquez in One Hundred Years of Solitude and the wisdom of Trina Paulus' Hope for the Flowers.

I'm poor at remembering movie titles but I can't forget Forest Gump and Avatar.

Music - still the 80's, nothing in particular really.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are many amazing things that I've done. Choosing only one among them makes me feel uncomfortable. We'll talk about them when we meet.

Teach, Learn, Share

Some information about the places I've gone to that my guests may want to go to also. If you can bring unpeeled pineapple, I can teach how to artistically peel it. Many other random things like the moons of Jupiter, organic farming, sewing back the detached button of your shirt and handwashing techniques.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Maybe a bottle of peanut butter?
