About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To create a meaningful and fulfilling life and to share as much joy and love as possible along the journey :)
ABOUT ME
I was a Spanish teacher for 7 years before taking time off to run across the USA. I did the USA run to promote and raise money for a nonprofit I am developing called the Youth Travel Fund. This nonprofit provides grants to young people who want to do service based travel. The run took 5 months. I finished in August 2013. Since finishing the run I am embarking on a new path in life that involves being a gardener and administrative assistant for a small nonprofit, which gives me time to work on my nonprofit on the side.
Travel has had a profound impact on my life and I have traveled to almost every continent. I was in the Peace Corps for 2.5 years in Niger, West Africa. I believe traveling the world is one of the best ways to learn about and appreciate life.
PHILOSOPHY
"Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace and power in it." - Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love to travel and experience the cultures of the places I visit in meaningful ways. It seems couchsurfing can be a valuable resource for this type of travel. Unfortunately, I can't host anyone at the moment because I am doing a bit of traveling and I don't have a place of my own. When I am settled and do have my own place, it will be open to couchsurfers.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A friend who traveled around the world for 8 months told me about it couch surfing. I had my one and only couchsurfing experience in Sheffield, England. I stayed with a very nice host there for 2 days.
Interests
I love to travel, run, dance, sing, read and ponder the nature of reality.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Running across the United States was an amazing experience for me. I met so many kind, honest, and generous people along the way. It gave me a true appreciation for the goodness that we are capable of as human beings.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have learned so much from traveling and living in different places around the world. One of the most valuable things I've learned through those experiences is just how similar we all are as human beings. Culture provides a wonderful variety of ways for us to express ourselves, but underneath it we are all human beings who long to enjoy life and find some meaning in it. The Dalai Lama, a person I have a great deal of respect for, once said (and I'm paraphrasing) that the solution to war is picnics. If people stopped fighting and took time to meet one another as human beings, to share meals, and have pleasant conversations, they would most likely stop thinking of the other as the enemy.
Countries I’ve Visited
Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Côte d'Ivoire, France, Jamaica, Nepal, United Kingdom
Countries I’ve Lived In
