If you are coming to Jordan for a week, he is what advice you to do:
in case you do not have Jordanpass (including Visa, Petra, Jerash, Ajloun, and many other places), landing in Aqabah airport avoids you from paying the visa in Amman airport, you'll pay
1 day for Jerash City and Ajloun castle. 10 JDs to enter Jerash. 3 JDs for Ajloun (0 if you have Jordanpass),( transportation from/to Amman are available from North bus station in Amman. The last bus leaves Ajloun, Jerash at 4:00 pm in winter. it costs 1 JD/person). From Ajloun station to the Castle 1.5 JD for the whole taxi. Hitchhike back to Ajloun station, then Jerash or Amman.
1 day for Madaba and Mount Nibu (Mosaic churches)
From North bus station in Amman or 7th circle, take Madaba bus (1 JD). get the map from the visitors centre and walk. When you finish, take Faisaliyah collective taxi to Mount Nibu (2 JD/ person) or (5-8 JD by taxi). and hitchhike from Mount Nibu to Dead Sea. or hitchhike back to Madaba, then take Amman North bus station or Raghadan. depends on where you stay.
1 day Dead sea for swimming and hiking (There are many canyons with rivers to hike, Wadi Mujib is open from April until November. or depends on the weather. [21 JD for wadi Mujib, free entry to other canyons).
How to reach Dead Sea from Amman :
From South bus station, take ALSAFI bus (2 JD) stop wherever you want to swim. and then hitchhike back to Amman.
another option: JETT bus (11 JDs round trip), but it takes you only to the hotels area. where you have to pay 20 JDs for the day use of the beach. if you want unpaid beaches and recommended canyons.
2 days in Petra.
try to hitchhike from Dead Sea to Petra. sleep there. then start Petra tour next day at 6 am. then you need one day only.
OR from Amman Jett bus station to Petra (11 JDs) one way. or from South bus station 4 JDs. this one keeps waiting until it's get full.
2 days in Wadi Rum.
from Petra to Rum by bus (6:00 am) it costs 8 JDs. or share a taxi with 30 jd.
[usually they are similar, the differences are : Bathrooms(shared/ private), indoor/outdoor setting rooms, and how fancy the place is )
Make sure the price includes breakfast and dinner. Jeep tours are not included in the cost usually. but every camp has cars to arrange the tour for you. (6 ppl can share one car)
1 day in Aqabah
The only city on the beach. There is nothing important to see there except for snorkelling and diving.
1 day in Dana reserve.
it's closed to Petra. You need to get the Qadeseyah bus. from South bus station in Amman. then you can stay in a cheap camp. Transportation back to any city is NOT easy.
