Hi !
I’m Rose, currently doing a gap year between the two years of my master’s degree. At university, I study ecology, anthropology, political sciences… Everything related to those subjects interests me, as well as education topics. The goals of this year are to discover various ways of social transformation (in education, in the agricultural fields…), to learn new things (bicycle repair, cooking…), to have time to read and travel, to meet new people…
I am curious, open-minded, eager for new experiences. I often have a hard time making decisions haha.
I like everything related to human relationships and life stories and it would be a pleasure to share on these topics.
A few years ago, I couldn't decide between countryside and cities but today, I would definitely say that the more nature there is, the better. I love mountains, the sea, mineral and vegetal environments. My favorite season is spring.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think the best way to discover a country and its culture is by staying at local's places and by meeting people. And honestly, I don't see the point of travelling if I don't have the opportunity to meet people who live there. Also, as a student who really enjoys travelling, cheaper travelling is a real opportunity.
It is also a way to talk with poeple I'm not used to spend time with, people I would probably have never met without CS.
I hope that I'll be able to host travelers as well ... when I'll have an apartment :))

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm one of those odd people who don't listen to music so often, even though I really enjoy discovering new songs (so feel free to make me discover your playlists !!).
But, most of the time, I enjoy listening to any music with a good rhythm and some guitar or accordion (Danakil -le champ des roses for instance -, Xuqutopi, Folha de Jurema, Cancion sin miedo, Joan Baez, Light in Babylon, Ridan, HK…)

Recently I have read a lot of comics, travel books (Sylvain Tesson, Ella Maillart…), political essays. I am currently reading a poetry book written by Mahmoud Darwich.
This is what I like at the moment!

I often watch movies not to be thinking haha, and I don’t think I have any favorite ones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Cameroon, in a religious community : 3 weeks in Yaounde, the capital, and then 1 week near Ngoro, in the bush. That was quite an experience.
Another one worthy of sharing would be a more recent one : in 2022, I volunteered as a wwoofer in several farms in France. It was really amazing!
