After years of working and staying home, I am now ready to go out and meet people.

ABOUT ME

I enjoy meeting people, being outdoors, but I also need my quiet time and space to re-energize. I live with 3 other people in a rural setting outside Brisbane. I love animals and take care of cats, chickens and cows. In addition, I am a wanna be gardener, growing everything from food trees such as citrus to pineapples and strawberries as well as plants such as ferns, vines and shade trees. Although I'm a country girl at heart, I grew up in the city. I do like the culture a city provides and am happy to check out the theatre, attend events and indulge in good food.

PHILOSOPHY

I am on a spiritual journey, seeking a closer connection with God. He has brought me peace since I sought Him out a few years ago. I let him lead me where I am to go.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like people in general especially if they are positive in their outlook. In the past year, my friends and I opened our home to take in backpackers who needed a place during the initial covid lockdown. Over the months, we have met many people from different countries, enjoyed their cultures and food and gave them a place to feel safe, contribute to work on the property by giving some new skills, and share some great experiences! It was a very rewarding experience and we have made many new friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While in Quebec City, I was welcomed warmly and offered wonderful hospitality. I would like to pass on this hospitality and sense of sharing with others.

Interests

I am relaxed individual who enjoys meeting people and enjoying good food with interesting conversations. I am fortunate that I was in a position to accept many travelers during covid over the past couple years. It has inspired me to travel to their countries, immerse myself in their culture and broaden my knowledge. I am happy helping out with animal husbandry, work in the garden, assisting in building in natural environments, as well as help out with administrative tasks.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music tastes change depending on who I am with and how I feel that day. But generally I like rock, pop, country, folk, gospel and some alternative music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was involved in learning how to build an earthship. I loved the concept of using renewable resources to build a home but whats even better is a home that is a self contained system. Energy, thermal mass, food, recycled materials are what makes this system work. The bonus was the people I met. I made life long friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't know if I have anything to teach but hopefully along this journey called life, I can impart some advice that someone maybe able to use. I am open to learning and will try really hard to help where I can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm happy to cook a meal, help with the animals, garden, assist with building (I'm not a carpenter), but willing to help where needed. I relish the chance to get to meet new people who will broaden my circle of global friends.
