Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Rose and I am an artist who uses her work to forge change and try to make a better and more loving, compassionate world. I work mainly with acrylic paint and found materials (aka garbage) to create paintings, installation based work, and sculptural pieces. I have recently completed an undergraduate degree in sociology and women and gender studies and have spent the last four years gaining an understanding of social groups, behavior, economic patterns, and global migration, all of which have given me a unique perspective through which to operate on this crazy planet.
In addition to making art, I have spent the last seven years of my life as a community organizer and activist, focusing my abilities on issues of women's health and women's rights, environmental protection, Indigenous sovereignty and safety on Turtle Island, anti-racist theory and praxis, and food sovereignty. I have hosted radio shows on these topics, given public presentations and workshops, housed DIY community events, film screenings, and art shows.
