Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed my first couch, so to speak, about 6 months ago, traveling with a more experienced couch surfer. I will continue to couch surf wherever I travel. As soon as I have a place of my own I will host as many people as reasonably possible. Meanwhile, I am happy to make connections by meeting people for a drink, or showing them around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have so far stayed with hosts in Guadalajara, Mexico d.f., and Alajuela, Costa Rica. Each host was extremely accommodating and welcoming. I made a few very good friends, and all are invited to stay with me anytime.

Interests

I am interested in animals, music, poetry, art, literature, backpacking, climbing things, traveling, among many other things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have very eclectic taste in everything but I do have favorites.
My favorite poets are Lorca and Langston Hughes.
A couple books that are near to my heart: East of Eden, the Color Purple.
I love to listen to countless types of music but I enjoy singing jazz, gospel, blues, and soul. A goal of mine is to learn at least a little bit of the music of each country in which I travel. (Right now I am enamorated with Chavela Vargas.)
My taste in movies is the same story. But I especially love Pedro Almodovar films... and Fight Club.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing experiences to me: swimming with sea turtles, climbing to the canopy of a cloud forest, Burning Man, backpacking in the John Muir wilderness.

Teach, Learn, Share

What I can offer is help around the house. I have worked on a minor home repair crew, so although I´m not able to just fix anything, I am more comfortable with tools and odd jobs than most people.
