About Me

CURRENT MISSION: to have adventures, love greatly, explore the world, and create art.

ABOUT ME:
I follow my heart and intuition. I love to travel, but I also like to nest. I'm an empath which can be both good and challenging. I'm a lover of life and often need breaks away to remember how beautiful this place of Earth is...

I'm a theatre artist and educator, focusing on social justice arts, often working with youth and community to make change. I went to grad school at USC, where I studied theatre, therapy, activism and ways to help communities who face oppression create change for themselves. This is a new occupational field (Cultural Fieldworkers) and I'm excited to be part of this breakthrough.

I just moved to Columbus, OH after living in CA for 7 years. I'm glad to be back in the midwest, to be near family and nature, and live in a more affordable city.

I have two small pups (bichon frise/poodle types, 12 lbs each, non-shedding, hypo-allergenic) who often travel with me. Adult, potty-trained, and usually on good behavior. Sweet and cuddly.

PHILOSOPHY:
"Focus on the things you love, listen to your heart, and the music will speak for itself." -Jorma

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've looooved meeting kind, curious, intelligent folks through couch surfing. I've traveled across the country a few times and I'm excited to finally settle down and host folks at my new home in Columbus.

I'm about to travel to Cleveland for The People's Conference for Peace and Justice, the week prior to the RNC. Wanting to seize this free opportunity and learn from leaders in the field.

Interests

I love eating delicious foods (sushi, and Indian in particular), writing/storytelling, cooking, hiking, snowboarding, my dogs, reading, singing, long philosophical conversations, and oh so many other things/activities.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba diving in Mexico and Belize, dancing samba all night in Rio de Janeiro, directing a full scale play as an undergraduate, hosteling all over London, Hawaii, and Mexico, counseling campers in New Hampshire, zip-lining over the rain forest in Belize, climbing the Mayan Ruins in Guatemala, teaching theatre to marginalized youth....

Teach, Learn, Share

I practice collaborative community arts, often using techniques from Theatre of the Oppressed (theatre for social change), theatre and therapy, and Participatory Action Research (PAR).

I'm happy to pass on thoughts and basics of community work, lesson plans/ideas for community building/ensemble-building, building stories, and practicing vulnerability and authenticity.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good stories, an open heart, cuddling puppies, company for a hike... I'm strong and healthy so could help with a small project of some kind, perhaps?? I can cook! Open to ideas. :-)
